B.o.B. & Rivers Cuomo
Magic
new single 25 October 2010
Well... I salute BoB... this man's on the button.. Rivers Cuomo now and an uptempo .. errr song. Yep it's a 'Awoo' Werewolves Of london/Shakira chorus with a rap and top ten I reckon. Here's the press release
B.o.B’s dates with Paramore in November will be the Atlanta rappers first return to the UK since he hit London at the end of May for a triumphant sold out show at Kings College. The Guardian declared - "B.o.B will be H.U.G.E." (4 stars), whilst The Times said "In Britain we prefer our rap home-grown, but B.o.B is an exception...he bought a breath of fresh air back to rap." (4 stars). Having just wrapped up a sold out US tour supporting Atlantic labelmate Lupe Fiasco B.o.B has just kicked off a headline tour of his own across the US.
“B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray”, sees the resourceful rapper producing the majority of the album by himself, while also playing multiple musical instruments, including piano, trumpet and French horn. In addition, B.o.B is joined by a star-studded line-up of surprising special guests, including Hayley Williams of Paramore, T.I., Eminem, Janelle Monáe, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Playboy Tre, and Lupe Fiasco. Endlessly inventive tracks such as “5th Dimension” and “Magic” offer a fascinating journey into a gifted new talent’s far-reaching imagination.

Chiddy Bang
The Good Life
new single 11 October 2010
Chiddy Bang should top forty for a thirs time with 'The Good Life' and they're carving out a little niche all for themselves... nice
Chiddy Bang release an eight track prequel to their debut album entitled, ‘The Preview’ on October 11th. ‘The Preview’ documents the incredible journey the band have had over the last year emerging from underground US blog darlings to become U.S hip – hop’s leading lights.
Having met at Drexel University in 2008, the multi- talented duo uploaded a mix tape entitled ‘The Swelly Express’ on to myspace - an album of heavy party jams which circulated around the American college circuit like wildfire and led to over 100,000 downloads in a month. Having signed to Parlophone, the band released their debut single, the MGMT – sampling hip hop anthem ‘Opposite Of Adults’ earlier this year. The track quickly teared up the charts across the world selling over 120,000 copies in the UK alone and the video receiving more than 6 million views on you tube. It confirmed that Chiddy Bang could unite the mainstream as well as the underground; making the b-boys sing, the indie kids bounce and the pop lovers rock. Hip Hop moguls in the U.S began championing the band with Kanye blogging about them and Jay- Z, Snoop Dogg. Kid Cudi and 3 Six Mafia inviting them to support their live shows. So ensued worldwide tours, sold out headline shows and a hectic promotional schedule that left the duo little time to fulfil their vision for thier debut album. ‘The Preview’ is a sample of things to come whilst the band knuckle down over the next few months to record their debut album, ‘Swelly Life’ due for release early 2011.
As Noah puts it, “The main purpose of this release is to give our fans some new music whilst we finish recording our debut album, ‘Swelly Life’. It’s called ‘The Preview’ because it gives listeners a glimpse of what's to come on Swelly”
Recorded over the last 6 months in L.A and New York ‘The Preview’ is an insightful look into to the many things the band have experienced over the last year as well as the personal battles they have experienced with the glamour of being in a band. The prequel features an accomplished breadth of styles and some fantastic collaborations including Pharrell, who co-produced new single ‘Good Life’, Q-Tip who features on the fierce dance floor-friendly dubstep ‘Here We Go’ and Darwin Deez who features on the manic electro curveball ,‘Bad Day’.
‘The Preview’ is sure to cement Chiddy Bang’s status as American hip hop’s brightest musical prospects.

Placebo
Trigger Happy Hands
new single 27 September 2010
Superb... the best record in eons... a biting lyric with a perfectly ramshackle funky back track...
"the only place your truly free is cozy in your dreams"... If there be any justice... Number One!

Professor Green & Example
Monster
new single 3 October 2010
Yep another hit for Hackney! The Prof is blazing a trail... glad there's clean version too
Hackney boy PROFESSOR GREEN cements his leap from one of the underground’s finest talents to bona fide mainstream star with the single release of ‘MONSTER’ on OCTOBER 3RD through Virgin Records. Taken from his hugely-acclaimed album ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’, ‘MONSTER’ sees Green energising this slice of futuristic pop with his inimitable twisted lyrical musings. Remixes come courtesy of Plastician, T.E.E.D, Camo + Krooked and Doman + Gooding.
Having already amassed single sales of 350,000, the album ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’ which debuted a number 2 - and is still in the Top 10 - is now edging Gold status. Created with imminent super-producer Labrinth, other standout tracks include ‘Oh My God’, ‘Jungle’ (vocals by Maverick Sabre), the emotive ‘Goodnight’ plus GREEN’s first two hit singles ‘I Need You Tonight’ and ‘Just Be good To Green’.
On the live side, this Summer has seen PROFESSOR GREEN upping his game performing to packed out tents at Glastonbury and Wireless. He also announced his first headline tour for October but within days the venues had to be upgraded due to demand. Dates are as follows:

Tinie Tempah
Written In The Stars
new single 27 September 2010
OOh great a new single from Tinie... aside from Tinie's interest in providing top quality remixes - 'Stars' features Taio Cruz and in fact you feel you could be listening to a Taio tune when you hear his Arcade Eastside & Arcade Southside remixes - what else... oh yeah one or two observations come to mind while listening to this self-congratulatory lyric and I am so pleased to know that this crop of London grime stars are in fact the greatest creatures that ever lived... I was beginning to think it was the great Gordon. At last the mystery of life has evolved fully... pooey.... and ''Pride comes before a fall...' it used to be a saying to be wary of and if it has any relevance today this guy is heading for an almighty casm... there's nothing remotely endearing about listening to this self-perpetuating conceit... it is lyrical garbage... How has it happened that a movement has been unleashed (in this case grime) where each artist although they profess to be 'the greatest' shamlessly extolling their own 'bling' value to the planet - they are obsessed with 'haters'... questions, questions, questions.... well looking into the support given to various sectors of the UK's music industry by our recently departed Marxist government... MOBO land has had oodles and this naive morally devoid big-headed nonsense is the result... When you google the somewhat obvious questions, you can't fail to conclude this whole genre is the result of Labour's use of devolution and broadening the BBC & Channel 4 to adopt minority cultures far beyond their proportionate 8% share of the population... further... that it has been a deliberate and parallel policy... running side by side with mass immigration. Many suitably talented contenders have had no alternative but to watch the rise of 'box-tickers' far beyond their talent and sustainability. This is not 'equality', this is repugnant discrimination in action with all it's diminishing of common sense and virtue. Has it happened before? Was it coincidence the era of 'Punk' and 70s Labour went hand in hand... leading to Maggie's 80's. Bob Geldof relates in his autobiography how pretentious 'freedom' loving music scribes doubled punk gig attendances to sell mags like NME and cause mischief - aiding the rise of a musical movement where you didn't actually have to be able to play music.... they must have been pissing themselves into their bank accounts. So advanced is this flattening of the west and it's 'rock' life, a fella came up to me last week apologising for liking The Eagles. Eh?? In any terms The Eagles are West Coast rock's equivalent to Beethoven aren't they... the technical expertise, musicianship, know-how, the soulful precision made rock songs, superbly endearing vocals, their talent too great for the manipulated relegation of the cosy 'prog rock' spawned hierarchy... why should he apologise for liking them??
Where were we... fast forward to 2010 and 'Written In The Stars' is the grime equivalent of 'God Save The Sex Pistols'... the vacuous moribund thoughts of an artist struggling with the very notion of artistry...
Top Ten but like Tinchy Stryder recently discovered maybe not for long... I need to lighten up, where's my Slipknot album...
Here's the press release

No.1 rapper releases third single, ‘Written In The Stars’ out 27th September!
The undisputed breakout star of 2010, Tinie Tempah has had an incredible year. Few debut artists boast two massive hit singles, a Glastonbury performance on the Pyramid stage and an appearance on Jonathan Ross. Yet this 21 year-old South Londoner has captivated music fans, celebrities and critics alike in just a matter of months.
His major label debut single Pass Out has had in excess of 11 million views on YouTube, while it’s follow-up, Frisky shot straight to No.2 and has been viewed over 8 million times. Combined, both singles have sold upwards of 750,000 copies.
Tinie looks set for yet another smash with his forthcoming third single, Written In The Stars. Produced by Swedish powerhouse Ishi, the single is a euphoric feel good anthem that details the 21 year-old’s past, present and future ambitions.
“I’m trying to live the dream and other people can do the same if they put their mind to it. That’s what the song is about. You can do everything I’ve done, if you’re determined and driven enough.”
Featuring the incredible vocals of Boston newcomer Eric Turner, the epic, synth-led single features crisp drums, razor-sharp guitars and a considered message delivered in Tinie’s uniquely credible style. “I used to be the kid that no-one cared about, that’s why you have to keep screaming 'till they hear you out,” raps Tinie.
With Pass Out being the standout track of the summer, Tinie has played every significant stage from Wireless and the Big Chill, to Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks and Radio 1’s Big Weekend. In May, Damon Albarn invited Tinie to join him on Jonathan Ross to perform with Gorillaz, while in June Snoop Dogg, who did a remix of Pass Out, asked Tinie to join him on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. He’s won celebrity fans in the form of Prince William and P. Diddy - who enlisted Tinie for the remix of his latest single Hello, Good Morning - while Paris Hilton booked the rapper for a private party in Cannes. Having toured with Jay-Z, Chase & Status, Rihanna and Mr. Hudson, Tinie recently announced his own headline tour, which opens in October. The preceding week, Tinie will release his highly-anticipated debut album, Disc-Overy.

This week's Goss ...
UK Top 40 Sun 29 Aug 10
Eminem batters Iron Maiden to reclaim the UK's No.1 Album slot again while he's top of America's Singles for an umpteenth week with Rihannas help on 'Love The Way You Lie'. This song is a cross genre hit with it's 'burn the house down loving liars' lyric and surely will soon be top in the UK. Strange and a sign of the times that this week Eminem's record company scrapped plans to release a CD Single of the song.

So a new UK Number One Single from Taio Cruz with 'Dynamite' as Roll Deep falter fast and fall to 4 - the top ten now includes five former number ones.

The Top 40 has become a multi-national affair with France and Australia represented by David Guetta and Yolanda B Cool.... then there's Rumer (Sarah Joyce) of Pakistani origin new at 16, Rumania with Inna's 'Amazing' and Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina's 'Stereo Love'.... and surely for the first time a Rwandan Belgian is in the Top 40 - Stromae's (Paul van Haver) massive German No.1 'Alors On Dance' enters at 33 (and went down a treat after Hot Chip's 'Over & Over' last night).

Tis Ex-NHS Direct
Posted Saturday 28th August 2010 - Source : BBC

'Tis an Ex-NHS Direct according to new Coalition Government plans announced today. I'm not sure NHS Direct even looked good on paper, an obstacle to be overcome when seeking treatment. In practice our personal experience of NHS Direct involved trying to find an emergency NHS Dentist for an elderly relative - we were given two telephone numbers for Dentists who'd ceased taking NHS patients years earlier. RIP another badly enacted money eating Labour failure.
This week residents of Pontypridd have been dumbstruck to learn their council has spent £190,000 of their money on three bridges for doormice... you would be hard-pushed to make up this nonsense.

Stereophonics
Posted Thursday 26th August 2010 -

If you're a Phonics fan you'll have 'Word Gets Around' and you'll probably seriously consider paying £26.99 to get the disc again.... 'Word Gets Around' is re-released on 18 October 2010 as a Deluxe Edition with a second CD including B-sides and rarities... and also a Super Deluxe Edition with a third CD which includes their original Grass Roots made in Charles Street, Cardiff. This demo got them the gig in Aberdare that put them in touch with their future manager John Brand... the man who would within weeks land them their deal with Richard Branson. Upon hearing these demo versions of 'More Life In A Tramps Vest', 'Looks Like Chaplin' and 'In My Day' one can immediately assert how important the availability of oodles of dosh is when making a demo in terms of production. The songs were there and assuming his managerial role John Brand put Kelly and Co. in touch with the new production team that made them sound like a Welsh version of The Jam. Stereophonics will be performing their first and second albums on consecutive nights at London Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday 17th October (Word Gets Around) and Monday 18th October (Performance & Cocktail). 'Word Gets Around' is our pick, the essential Stereophonics album with some wonderful new inclusions, check the HMV site here

Did you know the World Wide Web was invented by a Londoner. Tim Berners-Lee first proposed the idea in March 1989 however, it came to fruition while he was working for the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva, Switzerland. On 6 August 1991 he gave his employer and the world it's first website.... see it here
