AIs this Katy Perry settling an old score? Although the popstar (25) is happily engaged to comedian Russell Brand (35), she doesn’t seem to have quite worked through her issues with ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy (28).
Her latest song ‘Circle the Drain’ seems to be an attack on the musician and his drug addiction.
The couple separated in December 2008 with McCoy’s habit supposedly being one of the reasons for the split. The 'Gym Class Heroes' rapper was thrown out of one of Perry’s Madison Square concerts because he was so strung out.
Katy Perry recalls the relationship in the lyrics to her new song: “You could've been the greatest/ But you'd rather get wasted./ You fall asleep during foreplay/ Cause the pills you take, are more your forte./ I'm not sticking around to watch you go down./ Wanna be your lover, not your f**kin' mother.”
And continues with: “You think you're so rock and roll/ But you're really just a joke./ Had the world in the palm of your hands,/ But you f**king choked.”
It could also be the reason for why Katy left fellow hosts, young skateboarder Ryan Sheckler (20) and surfer Maya Gabeira (23), to introduce McCoy's performance at the recent Teen Choice Awards.
