Northern Man new single due September 2010
Detroit Social Club have made several top singles and this new one is their best yet. The title track of their new album 'Northern Man' is a four minute radio friendly string driven intro - a little reminiscent of The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' - this surely has potential to pick up major airplay and land a Top 40 position. Good tune.

Fish Paste from the digital EP '5' due 13 September 2010
Well there's only two things smell like fish.. and one of them's fish.... Die Antwoord sounds like something else... not surprisingly Die Antwoord is the Africaans word for The Answer and the band are a hip-hop group from Cape Town, South Africa - AIDS capital of the world where the President is a polygymist and has twenty children with nine different women - Tiger Woods would have had no problem there... hardly surprising these lyrics are sex driven.... this is like new style electro/hip hop/ninja with teasy female vocals unlike anything ever on a Rihanna "I can't believe my knickers are so large..." I just wish they wouldn't use the F-word... some superb musical ideas... but the lowest common denominator stuff gets tedius Fuck this fuck that, yeh fuck it.. it's giving me a headache, ruining the zig-a-zig-ah.. put something sexy on. Despite several things I don't like about it 'Fish Paste' is a great track and I'm sure die men are cool with their contemporaries... but this is politics in action really and if it can't be played in the mainstream.. it's leftfield somewhere and will probably stay there or sooner or later cause trouble... this is not a nice tune, not uplifting, it's not meant to be but it's sadly destructive message is at some point going to reach a road block "This is for the haters...." yeh yeh we had So Solid have a hit with that message and hey some spotted they seemed themselves to be doing some hating. Same applies to 'Enter The Ninja' which is less musically appealing. I rather like this record, I think Antwoord could be big but for me the F-word should be used sparingly to emphasise anger, not as a sign of permanent anger. This continuing barrage of hatred will sooner or later corrupt the peace-loving.

These lyrics sound a little naive to me "he was lazy so she had a baby..." hmmm I don't think that's the answer... and there's not many six-teens who out a career path after making that choice so I think it's a mistake to allude in way to it being easy... it's like everything else will get harder from there... still four nice accoustic-ish trax and a good debut for Ms. Mewse.

Well this is obviously going to be massive. And I am excited listen to this fantastic new Linkin Park anthem. Unusually I'm initially preferring the longer album version which straight away gets down to vocal biznezz. I'm not precisely sure what these opening lyrical shots tell us... "broken people on the run..." these subliminals "God save us everyone..." are we on the climate change tip or the population explosion dance. Whichever this is an insprational piece and their new album sounds like it will be one of the seizmic musical moments of 2010. Smash hit.
Here's the PR.... "LINKIN PARK has announced a September 13th release date for their new album A THOUSAND SUNS (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros.). The album is co-produced by Rick Rubin (U2, Johnny Cash) and Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda, who last joined forces to produce Linkin Park’s 2007 release, Minutes To Midnight. The band also announced that the first single from the new album will be “The Catalyst,” which debuts on radio worldwide on August 2 and will also be featured on the band’s MySpace Music profile (www.myspace.com/linkinpark). Prior to the song’s release, the band and MySpace are teaming up for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” a unique promotion that gives fans a first-of-its-kind opportunity to collaborate with Linkin Park to produce their own song based on some of the tracks from the forthcoming single. A winner will be chosen by Linkin Park and their submission will either be included on the band's new album or the winner will be invited to perform with the band on a song on the upcoming record. The “Linkin Park, Featuring You” promotion is the start of a multi-phase global partnership between the band and MySpace Music. the MySpace Music platform. “Our albums are the foundation of who we are as a band, and reserving a spot for a fan to play on one of our songs felt like a way to show our dedication to them,” says Shinoda. “There are a lot of unknowns about what might get submitted for this contest, but that’s what makes it fun. Misery new single 12 September
Superb new single and superb new girlfriend... I hope our Adam and Russian model Anne V don't argue in real life. 'Misery' made to feel like a joyfull experience and a tongue in cheek video full of video nasty... this is a supreme return for Maroon 5 and should hang around ages and possibly top the UK and US singles charts... it's that good a single. Here's the PR... Congratulations on a much deserved Number One are due to Australian trio Yoland B Cool with 'We Speak No Americano'. Their track ripped from a 1956 Spanish hit... say no more... has caught on like fire. Some tunes for no apparent reason seem to be in a league above like this. Stereophonics despite their now massive catalogue of tunes have their first 'Word Gets Around' tracks bigger than ever - 'A Thousand Trees' now routinely blasted out by all and yet only a No.22 hit when released in 1997 is a prime example - who would have thought a song about matches and trees (and scandal) could have such appeal. The secret is that both these tracks are great pop records with a chorus or hook which is memorable and infectious.

Another interesting aspect to the new number one is it is growing rather unlike some chart-toppers like JLS where the bulk of their fans bought their 'The Club Is Alive' in it's first few days.

Next week it looks like new five strong boy band The Wanted will strike their first blow in their battle with JLS for the boy band crown.... (don't you hate those shitty labels?)

It's great to not be obese anymore.. I hate that word and its pretence.. let's call things what they are... I'm fat, so what... I was thin... same me and as for ASBO's... our South Wales Echo this week led with a front page headline 'Who Says Our ASBO's Haven't Worked' - derrrr pretty well all the callers I ever had on the subject... so stupid have we become a fifty per cent success rate is deemed by far too many to be success. There's also some impression being given that ASBO's will be replaced by something softer... I doubt that... this new Government is tearing up legislation faster than it was made - they mean business. There has always been an abundance of laws and devices to deal with troublemakers... for some reason they seem rarely enacted. Perhaps the left wing intention is to leave them in the loop to create yet another distraction from the serious sh+t that is being done like the million Iraqi dead since Bush & Blair 'won' the 2003 US/UK war of liberation.

Rock band Kings of Leon abandoned a US concert after just three songs because pigeons kept pooing on their heads.
The Kings of Leon have won a host of awards for their songs
The musicians managed to struggle through the first part of their set despite being repeatedly splatted - but the final straw came when the bass player Jared Followill was hit near the mouth by one especially large dropping.
The band, from Nashville, made the decision to leave the stage in St Louis, Missouri,before they were completely covered in excrement.
Their publicist Andy Mendelsohn issued a statement blaming an infestation of pigeons living in the rafters of the Verizon Amphitheatre in the city.
"Jared was hit several times during the first two songs. On the third song, when he was hit in the cheek and some of it landed near his mouth, they couldn't deal any longer, " it said. "It's not only disgusting - it's a toxic hazard." Drummer Nathan tweeted: "So sorry St. Louis. We had to bail, pigeons s***ing in Jared's mouth and it was too unsanitary to continue.
"FULL REFUNDS 4 ALL. SO SORRY. Don't take it out on Jared, it's the f****** venue's fault. You may enjoy being s*** on but we don't. Sorry for all who traveled many miles."
When the band arrived at the venue, they were warned there had been a significant infestation problem with summer shows over the years, but they were told everything was being done to fix it. They have promised disappointed fans they will return to St Louis and are continuing their tour of the US. The Kings of Leon are due to play at V Festival in the UK in August.
