Bombay Bicycle Club
Rinse Me Down
new single 20 September 2010
This new track from Bombay Bicycle Club is really quite quite brilliant. The 30 second accoustic intro works a treat before the excellent vocal and lyric kicks in... a kind of melancholy... but somehow uplifting too... yes a briliant composition.
Here's the press release... Bombay Bicycle Club's stunning acoustic album Flaws was released on July 12th to huge critical acclaim and went straight into the album charts at number eight. Following on from the album's first single - double A-sided single Ivy and Gold / Flaws which was A-listed at Radio 1 - Bombay release the second track from Flaws, Rinse Me Down on September 20th. Rinse Me Down is the album's opening song and sets the tone for the entire record, as Jack Steadman's distinctive vocal dances above sinuous guitar lines and Suren De Saram's propulsive drum fills. Flaws is characterised by a delicate, heart-swelling beauty and lightness of touch throughout. Jack describes his Dad playing him Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music for the first time as a "huge moment". Similarly, delving into his Dad's record collection introduced him to the likes of Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn and Nick Drake. Havingbeen crowned "Best New Band" at the NME awards in February, Flaws - released almost exactly a year after their debut - bookends an incredible year for Bombay Bicycle Club. The band has grown into one of the most popular and exciting new bands in the country as proven by jaw-dropping sets at Radio 1's Big Weekend in May, the Isle of White Festival, Glastonbury and most recently on their sold out July acoustic tour of churches and art centres.
Bombay Bicycle Club:
Jack Steadman - vocals, guitars
Jamie MacColl - guitars,
Suren De Saram - drums
Ed Nash - bass

Robert Plant
Angel Dance
new single 6 September 2010
Well, Led Zep's leader is back quashing any ideas of a Zeppelin reunion and impressing of his new found love of celestial voices and fiddles... and why not after 44 years of quality music he's got no intention of curbing the creative bent for a an old folks reunion. This new single 'Angel Dance' is so quietly understated and yet again it's another masterpiece... six Grammies for his last outing with Alison Krauss I wouldn't bet against another six winging Plantwards with his new set. The Master.

Tis Ex-NHS Direct
Posted Saturday 28th August 2010 - Source :
BBC
'Tis an Ex-NHS Direct according to new Coalition Government plans announced today. I'm not sure NHS Direct even looked good on paper, an obstacle to be overcome when seeking treatment. In practice our personal experience of NHS Direct involved trying to find an emergency NHS Dentist for an elderly relative - we were given two telephone numbers for Dentists who'd ceased taking NHS patients years earlier. RIP another badly enacted money eating Labour failure.
This week residents of Pontypridd have been dumbstruck to learn their council has spent £190,000 of their money on three bridges for doormice... you would be hard-pushed to make up this nonsense.

Stereophonics..
Posted Thursday 26th August 2010 -
If you're a Phonics fan you'll have 'Word Gets Around' and you'll probably seriously consider paying £26.99 to get the disc again.... 'Word Gets Around' is re-released on 18 October 2010 as a Deluxe Edition with a second CD including B-sides and rarities... and also a Super Deluxe Edition with a third CD which includes their original Grass Roots made in Charles Street, Cardiff. This demo got them the gig in Aberdare that put them in touch with their future manager John Brand... the man who would within weeks land them their deal with Richard Branson. Upon hearing these demo versions of 'More Life In A Tramps Vest', 'Looks Like Chaplin' and 'In My Day' one can immediately assert how important the availability of oodles of dosh is when making a demo in terms of production. The songs were there and assuming his managerial role John Brand put Kelly and Co. in touch with the new production team that made them sound like a Welsh version of The Jam. Stereophonics will be performing their first and second albums on consecutive nights at London Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday 17th October (Word Gets Around) and Monday 18th October (Performance & Cocktail). 'Word Gets Around' is our pick, the essential Stereophonics album with some wonderful new inclusions, check the HMV site here

You Know Now..

Did you know the World Wide Web was invented by a Londoner. Tim Berners-Lee first proposed the idea in March 1989 however, it came to fruition while he was working for the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva, Switzerland. On 6 August 1991 he gave his employer and the world it's first website.... http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

The legacy of Labour's Marxist glory continues with everyone passing their exams... so overwhelming has this ever increasing success rate been that a new set of exams are to be introduced. The idea being that these new exams will really sort the the brains from the bollocks...

NewportWrexham
Posted Sunday 22nd August 2010 -
The Welsh derby between Newport County and Wrexham is to be televised and has been put back to Sunday, 5 September with a 1pm kick off.
The two sides were due to meet in a League fixture for the first time since 1988 at Spytty Park the day before, but a new pay-per-view television deal has been struck and the game moved.
Newport are back in the top flight of non-league for the first time in 21 years having won promotion last season.
Wrexham are hoping to return to the football League at the third attempt.
