this week's post ...

All American Rejects
Gives You Hell
new single 9 February
Top ten new entry in the Obama week USA, hope it's not an omen. This is a fine comeback with a fairly predictable keyboard sounding intro before some off th
e wall guitar work complements the Simpsons style vocals superbly. Yeah this is a great little comeback hit, should break the UK top forty too!

Basshunter
I Miss You
new single 14 December
The 140bpm 'I Miss You' charted a couple of weeks back, in fact the same week as music man / model Basshunters 139bpm 'Jingle Bells' hit the top forty, 'bum ba bum ba bum ba bum' and so forth. Mixes by the excellent Fonzerelli and Headhunters, nice vids, a handsome chap and a good looking gal so what more do you want. Alright then if you're quick you can hunt down the CD single with the four minute Basshunter Megamix. Job done

Defend Moscow
Manifesto
new single 23 February
Well this is a superb listen, a great 113bpm grooving bassline, a fairly hectic mixture of female/male lead vocals and a catchy tune. Accompanied by the KGB Remix, the Lenny Picko mix and another song 'Bittersweet Destiny'. A fine debut deserves a listen

Filthy Dukes
This Rhythm
new single 9 March
Hey Filthy Dukes, a great electro record featuring Samuel Dust of Late Of The Pier. Six mixes her from Toddla T, Fred Falke, Emperor Machine along with The Filthy Dukes Kill Em All Remix, the album version and the radio edit. Groovy, a top forty breakthrough

Flamboyant Bella
This Rhythm
new single 9 March
Hitchin teens band Flamboyant Bella - I kind of love the title, not sure why ... perhaps because it's such an obvious idea to write a song with that title and I've never thought of it before .. that said this is a choppy up-beat indie guitar tune which is in the thick of it.. the title alone may impead mass airplay, but Flamboyant Bella sound like they'll come up with a strong set to accompany it .. and I like Hitchin many's the time I've fallen asleep on the Welwyn Garden City train and missed my stop aah the days eh?

Kevin Rudolph
Let It Rock - Remixes
new single 28 December
Top five UK, top ten Staeside - a great record. 'Let It Rock' is a top quality merging of hip hop rock. Cahill & Filthy Dukes provide a couple of excellent 128bpm dance remixes of which I like, the to the point radio edits best and the explicit album version does the biz too, although I'd really like a radio edit of the Filthy Dukes remix, they know how to nail a tune.

Le Corps Mince De Francoise
Bitch Of The Bitches
new single 26 January
ALike The B52's on helium, I really like this really upfront femme fatale, great lyrics, intriguing delivery "... of course I like to play with you" A French named Scandinavian band, sisters Emma and Mia Kemppainen and Malin Nyqvist formed Le Corps Mince De Francoise in 2007 and started playing their local scene in Helsinki, Finland ... and what's this horny lyric? "... fucking my friend and I need it". Am I perverted to like the sound of that, well they said it not me. Suffice it to say this sounds like an aftershow party not to be missed! Brilliant! click here for their myspace

Marmaduke Duke
Kid Gloves
new single
Another fine 125bpm indie rock single, it might get lost in the pack but nevertheless a good debut

Morrissey
I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris
new single 9 February
He's quitting, just like Frank Sinatra, but not like Gary Glitter, so he'll probably be announcing a new tour at the end of the year. Then again Mozza might be uniquely accurate in his announcements. Whatever this is classic Morrissey, a swift 2 minutes 40 seconds at 121bpm with a car engine sound effect leading into a usual Morrissey melancholy. D'you think he might do a really happy song before he quits, you know like cover Girls Aloud's 'Love Machine', something up-beat? No neither do I? Anyway it's the usual Morrissey brilliance, top ten

Prodigy
Omen
new single 16 February
Well what can you say? They are The Prodigy, and they are back bid time - this is blistering stuff, dancefloor throttling, pounding punk rave electro fusion of the finest order, so good I think the Prodigals have pinched their rave crown back from Pendulum. Look out for the top Noisia remix of this. If this were 1996, this chunky throbbing 136bpm 'Omen' would be a sure fire bet for number one, however with downloads confusing chart matters, I reckon top ten, maybe top five. The 'Invaders Must Die' album with it's awesome title track due for release a week later should have little trouble hitting top spot

Rudenko
Everybody
new single 16 February
23 year old Moscovian Leonid Rudenko features vocals and visuals from uncredited sexy Russian dames here on this superb electro funky track.
Seven great mixes and a catchy 'Everybody's doing it' line give one the proverbial horn and with Russia now owning London's Evening Standard one should expect frequent double full page spreads' on Leo very soon. Joking aside this is an excellent track, should be top five

September
Can't Get Over You
new single 9 March
With several worldwide hits September (aka Petra Markland to her Mum) has taken some time following her debut UK smash 'Cry For You' and it's been worth waiting for. 'Can't Get Over You' is another 128bpm Euro sounding keyboards dancefloor filler. Yet another excellent single from Hard2Beat records who've also delivered us Basshunter. Top ten!

Wombats
My Circuitboard City
new single 2 March
A shame The Wombats didn't score with their Christmas ditty but there's good news for fans here with the early promoing of their new single 'My Circuitboard City' due on 2 March. A natural progression for the band lock down at 150bpm - a top forty placing should be guarantee

How great is it that we have the NOTW to provide our moral conscience. How fortunate are we to have such a magnificent institution to remind us when we stray from the righteous path. No matter that you may be risking your life for your country NOTW warns us all to be vigilant to refrain from a careless word, glance or even such a thought. If bored especially don't be so on camera. In fact amusing ourselves as a relief from an idle moment should be conducted in the greatest seriousness, the NOTW's lawyers will be watching over us.
