this week's post ...

Bye Bye Johnny
Take Cover With Me
new single 8 December
Manchester's Bye Bye Johnny have already earned respect from BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson and Xfm's Clint Boone and Embrace's Danny McNamara is such a fan of this band he invited them to play the opening night at his Aftershow club alongside The Ting Ting's and The Magic Numbers. Like a Mancunian Less Than Jake the short and sweet 2 minute 20 second 185bpm 'Take Cover With Me' is a fine tune which could make a big impression and 'Joan and John' sits pleasantly aside

Flobots
Rise
new single 1 December
Peacenicks Flobots formidable album 'Fight With Tools' can be witnessed live on UK tour in February 09 forming part of a politically pro-active line-up alongside Rise Against and Anti Flag. 'Rise' as with 'Handlebars' and each Flobots track is direct and pointed politically, top forty maybe

Fratellis
A Heady Tale
new single 22 December
It's tough following 'Chelsea Dagger' eh? 'A Heady Tale' features more singalong chanting this time more towards the end of the tune, I'm thinking the excellent Fratellis must be having nightmares about how big the 'Dagger' became, 'A Heady Tale' is good but unlikely to clamber out of it's predecessor's shadow

Kaiser Chiefs
Good Days Bad Days
new single
This is a fine single, a more medium paced and cheeky song than the top five 'Never Miss A Beat' ... an excellent listen in fact for which one can easily imagine Radio 2 airplay. The 112bpm 'Good Days Bad Days' is a fine pop record which if there are enough Kaisers fans without this already should make it top twenty. However probably their thrust must be to pick up airplay and sell albums

Katy Perry
One Of The Boys
new album
You can't improve much on a ten out of ten, I give Katy's album 10 on the basis of one shocking single which is an absolutely brilliant demonstration of how pop
music works, the video for Kissed A Girl is so teasingly horny ... but that's not all... Ur So Gay is another outrageous lyric, and as for the awesome 'Thinking Of You' - how many have been trying to forget a previous lover but can't even in the throws of passion - this song captures the heartache .. and again a superb video! Brilliant, lucky lucky Travis

Kinkane
Still Feel The Same
new single 24 November
Kinkade are on B-unique records and the PR for 'Still Feels The Same' bodes badly for label mates The Automatic who aren't mentioned yet 2004's best next thing The Ordinary Boys are .... ??? Recorded and produced by Butch Walker at a wooden house in Malibu, Los Angeles borrowed from Chilli Pepper Flea, it's an uptempo 135bpm guitar based offering. Nothing wrong with it just not strong enough to break through. As evidenced by The Automatic's brilliantly produced 'Steve McQueen' struggling to No.15 it looks like an there's another enormous hill to climb for Kincane

White Lights
Me My Head
new single 21 December
Well now here's a tune featuring
"unsolveable are the puzzles we create, engulfed and surrounded by a hyperactive state and everything falls into chaos within four minutes ..." quite a surprise at 152bpm White Lights 'Me My Head' has a haunting up-beat quality. In the studio with Embrace's Rich MacNamara to record their debut album throughout December there's four mixes included here by Shadow Dancer, Adventure's Elephant and Masters Of The Universe. Well worthy

Wiley & Daniel Merriweather
Cash In My Pocket
new single 1 December
Wiley's inclusion of Daniel Merriweather gives this track a very pop feel which should take it high into the top ten. The 115bpm radio mix is complimented with four remixes by Out Of Office and Chew Fu around 127bpm. Pop quality grime

The Wireless
Been Here Before
new single 1 December
London's teens The Wireless are back with their second single 'Been Here Before', predictions of the next big thing abound in a spikey guitar based 147bpm three minute listen with occasional tasty femme backing vocals. 'Tis a little edgy, probably not strong enough to break through yet, but they've already run their own 'Bully The Ugly Girls' surf / grime / garage club in London so who knows, a maybe

Oh Batman, I say!

40 new PUDSY'S BEAUTIFUL DREAMERS We Have A Dream

The Italian lover
The Italian Lover, virile, middle aged Italian gentlemen named Guido was relaxing at his favourite bar in Rome , when he managed to attract a spectacular young blonde woman. Things progressed to the point where he led her back to his apartment and, after some small talk, they retired to his bedroom where he proceeded to rattle her senseless.
After a pleasant interlude, he asked with a smile, "So, you finish?" She paused for a second, frowned, and replied, "No." Surprised, Guido reached for her and the rattling resumed. This time she thrashed about wildly and there were screams of passion. The sex finally ended and, again, Guido smiled and asked, "You finish?" Again, after a short pause, she returned his smile, cuddled closer to him and softly said, "No." Stunned, but damned if he was going to leave this woman unsatisfied, Guido reached for the woman yet again. Using the last of his strength, he barely managed it, but they ended together screaming, bucking, clawing and! Ripping the bed sheets. Exhausted, Guido fell onto his back, gasping. Barely able to turn his head, he looked into her eyes, smiled proudly and asked again, You finish?" Barely able to speak, the beautiful blonde whispered in his ear,
"No, I Norwegian

THINGS THAT ARE DOWNRIGHT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY WHEN DRUNK:

1 Thanks, but I don't want to have sex.
2 Nope, no more booze for me.
3 Sorry, but you're not really my type.
4 MacDonalds? No thanks, I'm not hungry.
5 Good evening, officer. Isn't it lovely out tonight?
6 Oh, I couldn't. No one wants to hear me sing karaoke.
7 I'm not interested in fighting you.
8 Thank you, but I won't make any attempt to dance, I have no
coordination. I'd hate to look like a fool.
9 Where is the nearest toilet? I refuse to hurl in the street.
10 I must be going home now as I have work in the morning
