Manic Street Preachers
Send Away The Tigers
new album 7 May
James & Co are back to their roots on 'Tigers', three minute indie rock nuggets produced by legend Dave Eringa. 'Underdogs' the "this one's for the freaks" fans song kinda sets the tone, storming single 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' starring Nina Cardigans again marks a ten year deja vu. Manics fans should be delighted. XXXX

Kharma 45 new single 7 May
Where's Your Spirit Man?
130bpm
K45 just played a superb set for us at Cardiff Barfly
click here for pics. There is an awareness to this band, perhaps not surprisingly as they're from Derry. Superb tracks like 'Political Soul', 'Come On', this excellent new single 'Where's Your Spirit' and the follow-up 'Ecstacy' is one of the best songs of the last two years. XXXXx kharma45.com

Feist new single 7 May
My Moon My Man
124bpm
The latest Canadian songstress, Toronto based and feisty Feist has 82,000 friends. Not surprising really, producer Chilly Gonzales is one of them and he's beamed into a Nelly Furtado type competitor here. Feist has a rather eccentric array of goodies to bestow upon us, all of them rather tasty. The single 'My Moon My Man' is worthy of Top 40 status so maybe. XXXx

Snow Patrol new single 30 April
Signal Fire
68-138bpm
New music and another slow burner from Snow Patrol. Akin to 'Chasing Cars', this kind of creeps into your subconscious .. of course it will be given an almighty shove when 'Superman 3' is released. A massive single, downloads alone will put it into the Top 40. Great form from last years biggest selling brits. XXXx

Linkin Park new CD single 7 May
What I've Done
121bpm
Linkin Park's third studio album, 'Minutes To Midnight' due for release on 14 May. from it the Rick Rubin / Mike Shinoda first single 'What I've Done'. A forlorn pleading vocal, with a familiar Linkin Park backline has placed this in the Top 40 immediately on download availability, the CD will be available from 7 May so they'll be here for some time. BRMC new single 16 April
Weapon Of Choice
112bpm
BRMC's new album 'Baby 81' is due on 30 April - full UK tour, well up to the usual standard but for some reason their second album struggled and I'm not sure this is going to fare any better. Who knows why, it's like they were the next best thing that didn't quite happen. It's a fine 3 minute pop record, just a bit too where next? XXX

We Start Fires new single 28 May
Magazine
173bpm Play You 150bpm Hands Dirty 148bpm
Pictured above Darlington's 2007 answer to The Rezillos have arrived.. Becky - vocals / guitar, Melissa - synths / vocals, Nikki - bass / vocals & Ashley - drums collectively known as We Start Fires. Three pacey indie anthems, as their myspace states
"A breathless mix of spiky indie rock, electro noise and pure pop suss, North East girl / boy gang We Start Fires are set to release their glittering new single MAGAZINE b/w BLACKOUT on May 28th. 2006 saw the band release two, now sold out, limited edition singles: the pouting, James Ford produced, cherry red vinyl debut of Strut and the NME Single Of The Week runner-up, double A-side, Hot Metal and Hipshake (“This slab of bubblegum metal makes a case for We Start Fires being the acest band in the world!" gasped NME!); as well as tearing up dance-floors across the UK with Nine Black Alps, Giant Drag, The Longcut and iForward Russia!, hitting Texas for the SXSW festival, playing a handful of Italy’s coolest club nights, bringing down the house at the London Calling festival in Amsterdam with Dirty Pretty Things and being the subjects of a documentary for BBC2s The Culture Show. They also found time to run Darlington’s hottest indie night, Club Strut, with Becky and Nikki moonlighting as glamorous DJ duo The High Kicks!" Some Velvet Morning
Settle Down
new single 4 June
A superb follow-up to Losing My Mind a lead vocal that cuts through and a chunky rock arrangement which deserves big success.
Some Velvet Morning take their name from a Lee Hazelwood Nancy Sinatra duet and Nancy is said to quite fancy Des, Gav & Rob's sultry rock & roll. 'Settle Down' is an intriguing lyric, a little housewifery sleeve pic to boot! XXXx somevelvetmorning.co.uk
