Switches single 16 April
Lay Down The Law
112bpm
At 2mins 40seconds Switches stand a pretty good chance of getting 'lay down the Law' played everywhere. Perhaps not the most lyrically ambitious, this is however a catchy tune, a stomping beat and a strong guitar line. A hard working band from Southend who deserve a Top 40 placing with this. XXXx

Rufus Wainwright
Going To A Town
new single 14 May

Dad Loudon and sister Martha will be proud of kin Rufus for this biting and mournful
ode to the passing of responsible America. A first single from the album 'Release The Stars' with an apparent cover shot of the Statue Of Liberty gagged .. on the Geffen record label too. Thought provoking. XXXX

Brand New
Jesus new single 30 April

Strange and a shame that key words are kind of in vogue and copied, fresh from an appearance with The Killers
"Jesus Christ" is now whisked into Brand New's Long Island New York world. Blasphemy aside, this medium paced anthem is a bit of a spine-tingler which should pick up airplay easily, maybe even a surprise Number One. Blasphemy aside, rather bril. Mr Hudson vs Sway
Ask The DJ new single 23 April

With it's in-speak and obvious DJ appeal the 124bpm 'Ask the DJ' finally gets a single release on 23 April, with a fine and funky remix featuring Sway a week later. Gigging around the UK and Europe throughout April and May, 'Ask The DJ' is possibly a little too obviously an attempt to woo radio programmers but nevertheless a good listen enhanced by this remix, possibly a first chart hit.

Rumble Strips new single
Motorcycle
151bpm
An obvious love of 60's Stax sounds, 'Motorcycle' begins with a mellow brass intro before launching into a pacey 151bpm lyrics about the limits of motorcycling
'I wish this motorcycle' could fly'. First out in december 05, a second single release for this song of which an excellent vid can be found at The Rumble Strips websites, links below. XXXx therumblestrips.com

GoodBooks new single 9 April
The Illness
152bpm
From Kent, Max Cooke - vocals, guitar : Christopher Porter - vocals, bass : JP Duncan - the synthesizers : Leo von Bülow-Quirk - drums, collectively GoodBooks. A strange title, a choppy beat and arrangement .. Bloc Party-ish see for yourself when they kick off a busy UK tour on 10 April at Clwb Ifor bach in Cardiff. Different XXXX

Sugarman & Harry Dean Stanton new single 7 May
The Riddle 120bpm

The Harry Dean Stanton of Cool Hand Luke & godfather fame is featured here voicing the riddle of Nokia over a back track by Sugarman, remixes by Rui da Silva & Shimiko make this quite appealing. the original radio edit could easily take off, different in a spoken word Des Lyneham kind of way! XXXX
