The Concretes
All Day
new single 18 October 2010
Lushly understated and ready for bed... The Concretes return with a lilting refrain which is nice but... like so many not strong enough to breakthrough. Sexy though. Here's the pr....
'All Day' is the first single taken from The Concretes' new album 'WYWH', which is released by Something In Construction on 18th October. It features the band's trademark melodies with added disco shizzle - The Concretes are back!!
What happened to The Concretes??, people asked. Not a single new song in three years from a band that had been as reliable as a Swiss watch, releasing a new album every year since 2005. Time passed and even the band started to wonder, Whatever did happen to The Concretes? Well, of course, there was a lot going on; life, cycling, egg poaching, gardening, travel, children. And other side projects. One member even joined the circus. And then songs began to appear. A new album formed. 'ALL DAY' is the first single taken from this album, titled 'WYWH', which comes out on Something In Construction in October. It?s disco in the crack between a smile and a tear. Disco dreaming of being elsewhere. With less guitar, more keyboards, more bass, deep languorous vinyl grooves, twitching percussion and some good old cowbell but still with those trademark melodies the band is finally back.

Lies
new single 20 September 2010
A chunky listen this, good record "Lies sleeping with another man..." Should make plenty of new fans with its plentiful remix package. Top tune

Foals
Blue Blood
new single 4 November 2010
The word for this is... 'nice'.... and as all nice guys know... the girl is elsewhere... I like Foals 'Hummer' really was a groundbreaking sound, but they seem to my ears to have lost the cutting edge and drifted into melancholy... too much so for me anyway... good tune but nothing to suggest a big breakthrough, sorry.
Foals release their next single 'Blue Blood' on 8th November. Their album 'Total Life Forever' was released in the UK this May entering the charts at No 8 before being nominated for the Barclaycard Mercury Music Award and being recognised as one of the Top Ten albums of the year. Album opener 'Blue Blood' has found its feet as a live favourite over the festival season with its slowly building layers. The band tour the UK next month.

Huski Vs Arcade Firl
The Suburbs / Girl Kill Smile
new single 27 September 2010
Maple Bee and Pike aka Huski are back. They had an intriquing debut album 'Love Peace Pain' out in July 2006 with some superb artwork. Still together and somewhat spunkier on 'Girl Kill Smile' they could pick up enough airplay to make a breakthrough.. the production and arrangement is a little off-beat so maybe. I'm not sure the Arcade Fire 'Suburbs' is so good... it's a good song so maybe it's enhanced by the female vocal but then again the original seemed to struggle as a single. Jury's out... good but not sure of impact.
Press... Electro-pop-shock duo Huski will be returning with a new album 'Strangelove' early next year. In the meantime they're teasing us with a timely version of the title track from Arcade Fire's new album 'The Suburbs'. Also included here is a new Huski track 'Girl.Kill.Smile.' which is available as a free download from www.huskimusic.com. Check out the website later in the week as they're promising to upload a video to accompany the Arcade Fire song. Don't forget to leave your reactions at the usual www.wild-uk.com place, not on here.

Klaxons

new single 25 October 2010
I hope this Top 40's for them, it's a strong alternative edgy bent from a top outfit

3OH!3
Double Vision
new single to be confirmed
3OH!3 have got a formiddable edge to them, they are right on the cutting edge of pop meets the next phase and this is another great track. Top Twenty at least.
Here's the pr... Taken from the top 20 album ‘Streets Of Gold’, ‘Double Vision’ follows their current hit single ‘My First Kiss (Feat. Ke$ha)’ which spent three weeks inside the top ten and is still riding high in the Top 40, the track has sold in excess of one million copies worldwide. The companion video has just received a prestigious MTV Video Music Award nomination as “Best Collaboration”, pitting 3OH!3 and Ke$ha against such superstar pairings as Beyonce & Lady Gaga, B.o.B & Paramore’s Hayley Williams, and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. The album also features the massive smash hit singles ‘Starstrukk (Feat. Katy Perry)’ and ‘Don’t Trust Me’. The duo were in the UK whipping the masses at T in The Park and Oxegen festivals into a gang-sign-throwing, finger-licking frenzy, they also played a rapturously received sold out show at London’s Kings College and played storming sets at Reading/ Leeds. 3OH!3 are Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte.

Remember Britain
Posted Wed 6th Oct 2010 - Source - BBC.co.uk

It's back... and the reversal begins... if you've had your fill of enrichment... today more signals that the coalition is indeed a freedom loving 'British' government... starting where Bliar did... education, education, education... but so differently...
"British history will be placed at the heart of a back to basics National Curriculum"
... it can't be a bad thing to learn why our Grandparents, English, Scottish, Irish and Welsh joined to repell an enemy in two world wars... the very reason we still have our freedom.
There's a quietly disparageing tone from whoever wrote the Beeb's coverage of this story on the web-page link above, suggest the 'big society' will soon be visiting the BBC.
