Makes You Go
new single 8 November 2010
"I think I'm gonna explode... it's a shame that you're looking that way and you're acting that way and you're talking that way say hey..." Catchy tune and exuberant 80's like sound with chants and riffing you may have heard this band on BBC6 Music. Autohype, recent support for Ellie Goulding release an excellent new single on 8 Nov 10, 'Makes Me Go' coupled with 'Make Love' and the 'Makes Me Go (Glover Remix). Again another top indie track which deserves wider recognition, maybe when Moyles is on Capital it'll come in a Ginger like way but don't hold your breath... Top tunes anyway!!!!

Awolnation
Back From Earth EP
new single 8 November 2010
Awolnation release their debut EP as a limited edition T-shirt.... with a download tag for the EP... Interesting ruse "This T comes with free music" type thang. The four tracks kick off with the fast furious 'Burn It Down' followed by the semi funky handclapped 'Guilty Filthy Soul', the edgy mellowish 'Sail' and the semi electro 'MF'. Quite surprising and well up to MGMT standard with whom they've toured the States also guseting with Weezer, they'll be in the UK in November. Tasty
PR...

Addicted To You new single 8 November 2010

Mega Mega Mega
album sampler
Four tracks featured here kick off with 'After Dark' featuring the Mystery Jets - a bright opener. Then the four minute instrumental 'Desert Rhythm' offers some alluring guitar work against an uptempo backbeat.... then bring on Bashy guesting on new single 'Addicted To You' introing with a chorus and rap/namedropping GaGa "I'm of I'm off I'm mental, Obama I'm Presidential".... and finally 'Panther' another excellent 140bpm instrumental. Top material and ingenuity.

Dirty Heads
Lay Me Down
new single 1 November 2010
An attractive listen, similarly phrased and structured to Travie McCoy's 'Billionaire' and featuring Rome from Sublime.... Number One on the US Indie Charts and a similar possibility here
PR....
Recently named as one of the best new bands of 2010 by Rolling Stone? Huntington Beach?s self-confessed skate and surf freaks The Dirty Heads who are currently sitting pretty at #1 in the US Indie Charts, are set to release their marvelous debut UK single 'Lay Me Down' through the Five Seven Music label on 1st November. 'Lay Me Down' also features Rome from Sublime and is the number 1 most played alternative song in the US right now, and has been in the Top 5 for five months! Taken from their critically acclaimed debut album 'Any Port In A Storm' which successfully blends together the band?s love of hip hop, reggae, rock, ska and acoustic rock, 'Any Port in a Storm' also features one of the final recordings of the late music industry icon Billy Preston who is frequently referred to as The Fifth Beatle, Preston played on three tracks, including Stand Tall, Chelsea and Driftin. The album is produced by the Grammy Award-winning Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock, Paramore) and was mixed by ex- Beastie Boys producer Mario Caldato, Jr. The song "Check the Level," also includes renowned guitarist Slash and M. Shadows. With time well spent in many late nights jamming sessions in Bushnell?s soundproof garage with a four-track recorder, writing unique acoustic hip-hop songs that featured reggae inflections. Inspired by the rock and reggae sounds of Bob Marley, Sublime, 311 and The Beastie Boys, the band's music evolved into their distinct Dirty Heads style.
The Dirty Heads are:
Jared Watson - Vocals
Dustin Duddy Bushell - Vocals/Guitar
Jon Olazabal - Percussion
Matt Ochoa - Drums
David Foral - Bass

Hans Island
You've Been Told
new single 8 November 2010
Hans Island have come up with a fine traditional indie rock single, 'You've Been Told' is somewhat reminiscent of early U2 and shimmers lovingly in it's top production... three mixes - the four minute radio edit, five minute album version and the drummed up echoey 'Karate Suit Mix' are accompanied by the fine 'Spiders On LSD'. Good trax deserve recognition.

Kid Adrift
A4 For Ecstacy
new single 15 November 2010
Here's another contender, Kid Adrift in a sound mesh aplenty, sounds like an un
easy spoken word/rap/pop frenzied vocal over a clutter of throbbing drum...
v.nice. Here's the PR.... The new single from Kid Adrift inspired by Aphex Twin and “Pretty Hate Machine” era Nine Inch Nails. Its processed beats and tough direct sound signals a leap on from the ‘Oxytocin EP’ that was released earlier in the year. It’s a forthright, emotional track that delivers a message straight to the heart and mind. After receiving several spins on Radio 1 from Zane Lowe and Nick Grimshaw, alongside praise from the Guardian, Q, Dazed and the Fly, Kid Adrift is set to be one of the acts to watch going into 2011. Look out for his debut album in the New Year. Live the band is a fleshed-out four piece, and they make a thrilling racket, digital synths meet coruscating guitars, as seen as they headlined the BBC Introducing Stage at this year’s Glastonbury, a well as storming sets at T In The Park and Bestival. You can see Kid Adrift live this autumn on the following November dates -
Tue 9th Manchester Night & Day
Wed 10th Glasgow King Tuts
Mon 15th London Water Rats

Papa Roach
Burn
new single 29 November 2010
I think if anything the new Papa Roach material is stronger than the hits of the early naughties... however... time has marched on and whether it's demographics or the latest way charts are compiled from downloads this may struggle in the mainstream even though it's well worthy. A fine aggressive three minute pop/rock tunette from their latest album 'Time For Annihilation'. Papa Roach return to the UK at Wembley Arena on 8 december 2010 on their Taste Of Chaos tour. Here's the PR...
Of the new songs, opener 'Burn' grooves with a staccato shimmy before tail spinning into a chunky breakdown. Kerrang
Burn is a powerhouse rocker seething with hate and threats of revenge, on which singer Jacoby Shaddix wails evilly. New York Post
On 29th November 2010, Papa Roach are set to release a new single on Eleven Seven Music via iTunes and other digital portals.
'Burn' is taken from the California quartet's latest release, and is one of the newly recorded tracks from 'Time for Annihilation On The Record and On The Road'.. It's an industrial-tinged metallic assault which pummels and pulverizes with a razor sharp riff and an invigorating hook that's impossible not to sing along to. Produced by David Bendeth (Breaking Benjamin, Paramore) in his New Jersey studio, 'Burn' has quickly become a live favourite. Singer Jacoby Shaddix says about the song It's about dealing with somebody that's two-faced straight-up. I've dealt with that many times over the course of my life. It's not necessarily about a particular event. What goes around comes around, and karma's a bitch.
Papa Roach solidified their identity as a hard rock contender in 2000 with their breakout debut, Infest. Since then, they've sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Time for Annihilation On The Record and On The Road spans their catalogue 2002's Lovehatetragedy, Getting Away with Murder in 2004, The Paramour Sessions in 2006 and Metamorphosis in 2009 and it includes live recordings of their 7 Top Ten rock singles 'Last Resort', 'Forever', 'Getting Away With Murder', 'Scars' and 'To Be Loved'.
Papa Roach played a storming set at the Sonisphere Festival earlier this year, and are back in the UK touring in December on the Taste of Chaos tour. Shaddix says "We are excited about going back to the UK on this tour. The crowds are always rowdy and sharing the stage with Disturbed will be an awesome experience. Taste of Chaos has been going strong for a while now and we are honoured to be part of it."
The dates are:
December 2010
Tuesday 7th Birmingham, NIA
Wednesday 8th London, Wembley Arena
Thursday 9th Plymouth, Pavilion
Saturday 11th Glasgow, SECC
Sunday 12th Manchester, Central
Monday 13th Nottingham, Arena

The Stand
I'll Be there
new single 25 October 2010
Football songs are a funny phenomena... for Cardiff City in 2008/09 the impact of 20,000 Saints fans belting out Kings Of Leon's 'Sex On Fire' as their soon to be relegated Southampton team headed pitchward led to a crippling 1-0 defeat when a draw would have seen City in the play-offs. Err talking of play-offs.... a lesson not learned in the 2009/10 play-off final City emerged at Wembley to the slowed and downbeat 'Men Of Harlech' while immediately afterwards Blackpool's players seemed energised by their effervescent announcer who immediately raised the stakes with a rousing speech and the noise level doubled with whatever it was they were singing... and then the stage was set for the City calamity to follow. So here we are near half a year later with a new City anthem worthy of some note. Created by The Stand who are actor Jonathan Owen, Guto Super Furry, Owen Catatonia and would have also been the late Stuart Cable for whom Ryan Funeral For A Friend has replaced. This tune has been immediately adopted by City for Saturday's home game versus Norwich and is aimed at helping raise dosh for a tribute statue for Cardiff's 1927 FA Cup Winning Captain Fred Keenor. The Bluebirds programme headline 'I'll Be There' is also the title of this song which has it's origin in the 1926 miners strike with the long gone Taff Vale Railway also movingly remembered. So it's for City, it references the Taff Vale and it's for a Fred Keenor staute... it's a winner... I've already bought three copies.

Twin Sister
All Around & Here We Go
new single 22 November 2010
This would be big at the MOWO's if there were such a thing, a sauntering, funky, breathy almost trad Climax Blues Band with electro/Prionce thrown in for good measure... yep I like it... should win new fans easy.
Here's the PR....
Long Island five-piece Twin Sister are set to release their first UK single through Double Six on 22nd November. All Around & Away We Go is one of the standout tracks from their Color Your Life EP, released on 20th September 2010 on double vinyl gatefold and CD, along with their Vampires With Dreaming Kids EP. All Around & Away We Go will be available on 7” (DS033) and via digital download (DS033D).
Twin Sister are currently playing shows stateside with Devendra Banhart and The Morning Benders and will be over to tour the UK as follows:
Tuesday 23rd November: Brighton – Prince Albert
Wednesday 24th November: Leeds - Brudenell
Thursday 25th November: London - Lexington
Twin Sister create the kind of hypnotic pop you've been dreaming about since Galaxie 500 fizzled, cut with Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac thump, and a shot of Lynchian weirdness for good measure. They're slack yet focused, a spark in the dark distance on a desert highway where speed is relative.
“Twin Sister are a Brooklyn-by-way-of-Long Island quintet that do so much so well. Their songs have a remarkable sense of atmosphere and romanticism. Theynod at their heroes-- maybe Stereolab and Bjork, maybe Cocteau Twins or 1980s pop-- without overtly stealing. They seem to know they are capable of great things... ‘All Around and Away We Go’ is a magical thing, driving and relaxed at once...” - Pitchfork

The Vaccines
Wreckin' Bar (Ra Ra Ra) / Blow It Up

new double A-side single 22 November 2010
With a recent sell out Cardiff gig at Clwb, The Vaccines have come up with a fine single in the truest Ramones like form you'll find today with a Ra Ra Ra like chorus in a short sharp 100 second track... then there's the other double A-side 'Blow It Up'... all very 1977 and that can't be all bad... a Royals Jubilee year dont cha know? A hit in all the right places.

Wolfgang
Lions In Cages
new single 22 November 2010
Full of youthful exuberance Wolf Gang tease with an uplifting jiggling melodic three and a half minute tune recorded in Cassandaga, New York. This is a tasty piece kinda reminiscent of Arcade Fire and it's got potential. Good tune. Here's the PR...
23-year-old singer & multi-instrumentalist Max McElligott aka Wolf Gang, is the curious creator of cult singles ‘Pieces Of You’ and ‘The King And All Of His Men’. He has already firmly cemented his status as next years one to most definitely watch, and with the upcoming release of new single “Lions In Cages” the enigmatic artist will surely stamp his romantic, surreal & imaginative sound all over 2011.
Having recently finished recording his debut album with Mercury Rev, MGMT and Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann, Wolf Gang represents the first UK act the prestigious collaborator has worked with in some time. Fridmann’s first encounter with Wolf Gang was when he heard a bedroom demo of single-to-be ‘Lions In Cages’ after which he immediately invited Max out to record the track at the soonest available opportunity. So in a small barn in upstate New York - in the middle of a forest full of bears, no less - Max hibernated in Fridmann’s studio as he threw himself into recording the album.
Inspired by the likes of Talking Heads, Roxy Music and David Bowie, as well as more contemporary artists such as Arcade Fire, Wolf Gang’s sound packs in an abundance of suave panache, ear-thwacking beats and heart-throttling melodies. It’s fair to say McElligott’s approach to music making is far from docile: Growing up in a number of countries from America to Scotland as a result of his father’s work, McElligott’s life has been awash with worldly influences, his family tree sprouting from a combination of Irish, Greek and German roots. Whether it was trumpet lessons, playing the piano with his mother or walloping drums in a pipe band throughout his childhood in Scotland, he was always destined to tussle with creativity.
Now, armed with one of the world’s most captivating producers, a knack for creating a classic and colossal resonance, and backed with musicians ready to fully elevate his songs, it seems Max’s aspirations to become a truly great British artist are coming to fruition. “Having tried out working with a couple of producers in London, I was becoming nervous that I wouldn’t find the sound that truly represented me. Dave has captured all of the emotion, charm and energy that I could ever have hoped my songs to contain. It’s been my lucky break to work with him and I’m truly excited now about how this body of work will sound.”
For now, Wolf Gang’s calendar is awash with globe-trotting: A trip to Australia is on the cards for late September as they perform at Parklife Festival, before heading back via the US for a couple of shows in LA, and a Neon Gold party in New York. Stylish, soulful and incessantly magnetising, Wolf Gang’s full inauguration is about to begin.

Following the Bluebirds record victory at Elland Road last night here's the latest Cardiff City hit news from Rebel Yells....

Cardiff City are hot news. They have recently signed one of the most famous players in the country, their home-town son Craig Bellamy, and are playing to full
houses week in week out.
Their fans sing the oldest football song in the world; I’ll be There was sung by Welsh Miners during the famous General Strike of 1926.
The song has now been recorded for the first time by The Stand to raise money for a statue at the ground for the legendary Cardiff Captain Fred Keenor. Keenor was an extraordinary man: Twice injured in the Battle of the Somme he was told he’d never play again. Not only did he overcome his injuries, but he captained his home town club to the FA Cup in 1927.
'Fred Keenor was the most important Welsh Sportsman of the 20th Century. At a time when Britain was shattered by war and depression he gave us the greatest of all things...hope' -Dr.Steffan Morgan.
Already the recording of the single has received major press coverage as members of The Stand have featured on Soccer AM and The BBC. With articles in The Daily Mail, The Times and The Western Mai to follow, the aim is to get the fans of the club (and football fans in general) to buy the single in their tens of thousands to reach as high a position as possible in the national charts (their FA Cup song made the top 20 in 2008).
The club have already made it their official anthem and the Bluebirds now run out to the song at their new stadium. It will be ready for pre-order from the beginning of September and will be available on CD, 7” vinyl, picture disc 7” vinyl and download on the legendary Acid Jazz Records (Jazz Asid) from October 25th. When Cardiff City play Norwich City home on Saturday the 30th of October the single will be made available to every fan at that game via Bluetooth. The first time this has ever been done at a Football match.
Combining the attitude of The Sex Pistols and the Celtic folk punk of The Pogues, The Stand are made up of four legendary musicians and actors all brought together by a great cause. The song was arranged into a three-minute explosion of energy by Owen Powell and Jonny Owen. Owen Powell was the guitarist and songwriter of Catatonia one of the best- loved bands of the 90’s. Jonny was in the mod indie band The Pocket Devils but left to pursue a successful acting career that has seen him appear in some of televisions best-known shows (Shameless) and the hit film ‘A Bit Of Tom Jones’. Joining them on bass is Guto Pryce from the uber-cool Super Furry Animals one of the most influential and innovative bands of the last two decades. On drums we have Ryan Richards from million selling band Funeral For A Friend. Ryan is currently on a sell-out European tour and took time out to record the song with The Stand. Due to an extraordinary
demand the band intend to do some select gigs this Christmas in London and their native Cardiff.
'Everyone involved in this project would like to dedicate it to the memory of Stuart Cable who was instrumental in the recording of 'I'll be there' and will be remembered forever as a dear friend and fellow Bluebird'.
