Two Lives
new single 14 November 2010

It’s been a phenomenal year for Example, with a certified silver selling album ‘Won’t Go Quietly’, killer festival performances both in the UK and Europe, a sell-out UK tour, 350K sales of this year’s summer anthems ‘Kickstarts’ and a support for the Faithless tour, Example is well and truly on a roll. And he continues his relentless onslaught on the UK charts with new single ‘Two Lives’ released through Ministry of Sound Recordings on 14th November.
‘Two Lives’ is yet another epic moment from the ‘Won’t Go Quietly’ LP and tracks like ‘Kickstarts’ shows Example cannot not only write a love song with the best of them (self declared inspirations for this tune being Chris Martin and Kanye West) - but also deliver a signature killer chorus every time. Produced by upcoming golden boy ISHI (Tinie Tempah) ‘Two Lives’ and its sweeping guitars and piano led intro is a more heart felt track; the lyrics show sincerity and glimpses of a more mature musical direction. ‘Two Lives’ is yet another Example triumph ready to follow in the footsteps of previous smashes ‘Watch the Sun Come Up’, ‘Won’t Go Quietly’ and ‘Kickstarts’. Example is currently on his headline UK tour selling over 25K tickets nationwide over 17 dates. His new live set also hits the road with Faithless kicking off in Bournemouth on 30th November climaxing at London’s O2 Arena on 11th December. With support from a roll call of Radio 1 DJs of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Judge Jules, Annie Mac and Mistajam, and massive daytime love from Fearne Cotton, Greg James, and a shout out from Chris Moyles for his very special recent live lounge performance, Example is definitely one of the hottest acts to impact the charts this year.
‘Two Lives’ is released with Data on 14th November with remixes from Wez Clarke, Kris Menace, Loadsta, Tek-One and Ian Archer.

James Blunt
Stay The Night
new single 25th October 2010
A bright up-lifting pop song sounding great alongside Train's 'Hey Soul Sister'... Top Ten Us maybe... Top 20 here. Good chune
PR....
“If this is what we’ve got, then what we’ve got is gold” James Blunt releases his brand new single, the insanely catchy “Stay The Night”, on Custard/Atlantic Records on October 25. The single is taken from his third album “Some Kind Of Trouble” which will be released on November 8. The album was produced by Steve Robson (with co production by Greg Kurstin and Eg White) and sees the five times Grammy nominee start another chapter in his musical career with a new freshness and spontaneity pervading the whole record. The single “Stay The Night” exemplifies this mood, a sexy acoustic-guitar driven party song about “singing ‘Billie Jean’, and mixing vodka with caffeine”. Written by Blunt, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Steve Robson, it’s the sound of an artist at the peak of his powers and it’s also very much the sound of an artist having fun. “Before, I would write a song and we’d go and record it. This time, it was very much come in with nothing”, recalls Blunt. “There was that sense of energy, let’s have fun in the studio and make a racket. It was great fun and felt natural.” “Some Kind Of Trouble” follows up the enormous global success of Blunt’s two previous albums, 2003’s “Back To Bedlam” and 2007’s “All the Lost Souls” which between them sold a staggering 18 million copies worldwide. It was recorded largely in London with James’s regular touring band, with whom he will be back on the road in 2011, with dates to be announced soon.

John Legend & The Roots
Wake Up
new album 18 October 2010
Well 'I Wish I Knew' should provide an updated theme for Film 2010 with Wossys dynamic replacements.... and 'Wake Up', a superbe Philadelphia original by Harold Melvin treated lovingly to Legends update... great song... great performance... and The Roots is a fine monicker to describe what's occurring here... top notch deserves success
PR...
Musical powerhouses John Legend & The Roots are presenting fans with a fiery new offering, Wake Up! The upcoming CD, being released by Sony Music on October 11th 2010, will feature soulful music from the 60’s and 70’s all with an underlying theme of awareness, engagement and consciousness— effectively telling listeners to Wake Up! After being inspired by the recent historical Presidential election campaign of 2008, the R&B singer Legend and hip-hop band The Roots felt a need to enter the action. What started as plans for a single quickly developed into a passionate album representing change, hope and activism— not only referencing one particular moment in time, but on a larger scale, holding true no matter what the political climate may be. The resulting album features eleven profoundly evocative songs infused with sounds of gospel, rock and reggae inflections with hip-hop influences. The album is highlighted by familiar tracks like “Wholly Holy” by Marvin Gaye and “Little Ghetto Boy” by Donny Hathaway mixed with the more obscure selections of Baby Huey and the Babysitters’ “Hard Times,” and “Hang on in There” by Mike James Kirkland. “These songs sound so relevant now,” Legend says. “On most of them, you wouldn’t change a lyric. ‘Wake Up Everybody’ (the album’s first single, featuring contributions from Melanie Fiona and Common) has four verses—the first one is a general statement, the second is about education, third is about health care, and the fourth is about making a better environment. No editing needed.” “When
these songs were written, people were more spiritually in tune,” says Roots drummer/musical director Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson. “It was fresh from the civil rights era and there was a feeling of hope that maybe, yes, someday we will all be free. In 2010, not so much.” The album features one original composition, Legend’s song "Shine," which is featured in Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim’s upcoming documentary film Waiting for Superman. The song, a "Stevie-Wonder-meets-gospel" stunner, clearly demonstrates the strengths of this specific group of musicians. Wake Up! blends Legend’s expressive, thoughtful vocal interpretations with an element of funk that only The Roots can provide. Bringing John Legend & The Roots together is an inspired pairing, so logical that it’s a little surprising they haven’t teamed up in a proper collaboration before. John Legend is a six-time Grammy winner whose three albums have all hit Number One on the Billboard R’n’B charts, and have sold over 600,000 copies in the UK alone. He has previously collaborated with such artists as Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and the Black Eyed Peas. The Roots—currently visible nightly as the stupendously versatile house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon—have released nine acclaimed studio albums (including the recent How I Got Over) and redefined the relationship between live instruments and hip-hop.
Track listing:
1. Wake Up (No Rap)
2. Humanity
3. I Wish I Knew
4. Shine

Katy Perry
Firework
new single November 2010
Another smash hit... and it's worth re-reading the press release for her latest album... “
I can’t run from where I came from, nobody can,” says Katy Perry. When it came time to make her exhilarating second album “Teenage Dream,” Katy found herself increasingly drawn back home to Santa Barbara, Calif. Back to where they knew her before she became a superstar. Before she kissed a girl and liked it. And, certainly, before she sold 5 million copies of her Capitol Records blockbuster, “One of the Boys.” “I love the vibe that Santa Barbara gives off and I wanted to really tap into the purity of my childhood and that feeling,” says the two-time Grammy nominated singer. “It was really fun to get away and walk into the studio with no make-up on.” “Teenage Dream,” out August 30th, will move you, both emotionally and physically. “When I was touring, I wanted people to dance more,” Katy says. “So I wrote an album that made people move, yet didn’t sacrifice the story substance that I had on the last record.” The album, whose producers include Max Martin, Tricky Stewart, Stargate, Dr. Luke and Greg Wells, is a glorious evolution from “One of The Boys,” It showcases an artist who dares us to join her as she experiences every facet of life.
“I’m giving everyone the full spectrum on this record,” Katy says. “You’re getting the sugary sweet, but you’re also getting the ‘Oh my goodness, she had to sit down for a minute and let some things off her chest’.”
Fun first single, “California Gurls,” went straight to No. 1 in the UK charts, has gone Gold and is the undeniable summer anthem of 2010. Featuring Snoop Dogg, “Gurls” is a sizzling salute to sun-kissed days spent in Daisy Dukes and a bikini top. Other album highlights include the heartbreakingly wistful “The One that Got Away,” the naughty, playful strut of “Peacock,” the uplifting “Firework,” the pulsing, stinging “Circle the Drain,” and the spiritual quest of “Who Am I Living For.” And then, of course, there’s the passionate, thumping title track. “I called the album ‘Teenage Dream’ because I feel like I will always want to be that pin-up poster,” Katy says. “I definitely want to be in everybody’s dreams at all times until I get to Liz Taylor’s age when I’m not in your dreams anymore, and I’m just a diva!”
It’s irreverent statements like this that have branded Katy a true American original. She’s the extremely talented girl next door with slyly captivating charm. She’s the face most likely to adorn the bedroom walls of young girls who adore Katy not only for her musical brio, but for her playful yet sophisticated fashion sense (Who else could wear a blinking dress that lights up) “I don’t ever really want to come off as trashy,” she says. ‘But I want people to know I’m definitely having fun.”
Of that, there’s no doubt. Seldom has an artist catapulted onto the world scene and captured not only people’s ears, but their hearts as well. Since the 2008 release of “One of the Boys,” Katy has taken a jet-fueled rocket pack to the top, wowing fans with her often whimsical, irresistible pop songs. Katy topped charts in more than 25 countries with cultural phenomenon “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot N Cold,” “Thinking Of You” and “Waking Up in Vegas,” and has sold more than 22 million digital tracks and mobile products worldwide.
Katy erases any barrier between pop star and audience by writing all her own material. “You’re getting a pure connection to the artist,” Katy says. “You’re not getting some idea of what that artist should be, you’re getting a direct voice.”
Nowhere is Katy’s voice and vision clearer than in concert. She is a relentless road warrior, albeit one who comes complete with gigantic, blow up plastic strawberries to toss into the audience. As a newcomer, she stormed the Warped Tour stage for 47 dates in 2008, immediately winning over hardened rock fans with her ceaselessly energetic live show. Since then, she has steadily built audiences across the planet by touching down in more than two dozen countries and filling increasingly larger venues each time she returned to a city. 2009’s headlining “One of the Boys” tour was a phenomenal success, selling out around the world.
She’s also a popular television draw, appearing on countless talk shows, presenting and performing on the Grammys living out her lifelong dream of being
lowered from the ceiling in a 600 lb. banana, serving as a guest judge on "X Factor" and “American Idol,” and hosting MTV’s Europe Music Awards twice. More often than not she’s adding to her trophy case at each stop, winning Best New Act at the Europe Music Awards, Best Pop Video at the MTV Japan Awards and International Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards.
As much as her life seems to play itself out in the press she reminds us the real Katy is in every note and every word of her music. “If you ever want an answer about how I felt about something or what I was going through or what I believe or my convictions or my love,” she says, “You just have to listen to the lyrics.” We can’t wait to hear every word she has to say.

Nadine Coyle
Insatiable
new single 8 November 2010
Good chune... should give Chezza a run for her dosh!!! Particularly like the Timka Extended Mix. Top Ten.
PR...
Nadine Coyle releases her hotly anticipated debut solo single, 'Insatiable' on November 1st 2010 and album of the same name on November 8th exclusively through Tesco on her own Black Pen Records imprint. With the energy of a Lear-jet on a private runway, the massive singalong choruses of 'Insatiable' erupt and lodge in the brain after one listen. 'I'm a pop artist,' says Nadine, 'and that's what pop songs should do at their best. I just knew we had something special when we wrote that song.' 'Insatiable' was co-written by Nadine and golden era-Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers.
The album 'Insatiable' is set to be one of the biggest musical events of the year, marking Nadine's first solo venture after seven years, five albums and millions of record and ticket sales as part of one of the most successful UK female acts of all-time, Girls Aloud.
The album has been put together by Nadine over the last two years and features 13 brand new tracks all written or co-written by her. Jam packed with stellar modern pop, 'Insatiable' mixes it up with influences ranging from the 80's to the noughties via Motown, sleek soul, blissed out ballads and a major injection of Tina Turneresque va-va-voooom to truly stop the show. 'It had to be right,' explains Nadine. 'It had to be my sound and my songs. Insatiable feels like that'.
The album was recorded in London, Stockholm, Malibu and Los Angeles with an international roll-call of musical talent, all assembled by Nadine herself. As well as Guy Chambers, other production or writing collaborators include William Orbit (Madonna), Toby Gad (Beyonce) and Desmond Child (Aerosmith and Bon Jovi) and a host of cherry picked brand new talent. If being crammed full of killer modern pop songs were not enough, 'Insatiable' is very much a singer's album, underlining that Nadine has one of the best voices around - incredible and diverse, she can go from breathy or sultry through to full-on powerhouse at the drop of a tune. The video for "Insatiable" being shot in LA is being directed by the legendary Wayne Isham who has previously worked with Britney, Muse, Janet Jackson and Metallica. In order to make her dream album Nadine created her own label Black Pen Records so she could take complete creative control. After considering numerous offers from several major record companies worldwide, she made the innovative decision to sign a deal with retail giant Tesco, who will stock the album exclusively. 'So much has changed in the way artists work now' explains Nadine, 'I think we have learned that the traditional model for selling an album isn't the only way of doing things. To be able to create an album where you are in complete control of your own work is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an artist.

Nelly Furtado
Night Is Young
new single / album 16 November 2010
Nelly F is back too and this is hitbound, probably not as big as 'Maneater' but hitbound nevertheless. Here's the pr...

Multi-platinum-selling, Grammy-winning global superstar, actress, philanthropist and recent Canadian “Walk of Fame” inductee, Nelly Furtado, will celebrate her first 10 years of recording with her first greatest hits compilation, The Best Of Nelly Furtado (Geffen Records). The album, to be released November 16th, features #1 Pop smashes, collaborations and three previously unreleased recordings and will be available in standard and double-disc deluxe editions.
Of the previously unreleased recordings, “Night Is Young,” the album’s first single, was co-produced by Salaam Remi (Nas, The Fugees, Amy Winehouse) and Staybent Krunk-A-Delic, and co-written by Nelly Furtado. Producer Remi and Furtado also co-wrote “Girlfriend” while “Stars,” was produced by Lester Mendez who co-wrote the track with Furtado. The Best Of Nelly Furtado looks back at a simply sensational and genuinely global first decade for the acclaimed Canadian-born singer-songwriter of Portuguese heritage. She has won and/or been nominated for seven Grammy awards, has a BRIT Award win, and has been awarded numerous Junos (Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy), including Album Of The Year for Loose as well as an MTV Europe Music Award. Furthermore, she has been nominated for a handful of Billboard Latin Music Awards and a Grammy for her groundbreaking 2009 album Mi Plan that further solidifies her vibrant and successful career as a dual language superstar. Embracing different cultures, musical styles and even languages, Nelly Furtado has helped define musical diversity for a new generation.
Nelly’s eclectic 2000 double platinum debut Whoa, Nelly! which spawned “I’m Like A Bird” was followed by the gold 2003 Folklore, whose “Forca” became the official anthem of the 2004 European Cup Football Championship. 2006’s double platinum, #1-debuting Loose spotlighted the platinum, Grammy-nominated “Promiscuous” along with the hits “Say It Right” and “Maneater.” Loose has been certified platinum in 32 countries and sold nearly 10 million copies worldwide and won the 2007 Brit Award for the International Female Solo Artist. In 2009, Mi Plan, her first album entirely in Spanish, made history when the single “Manos al Aire” soared to #1 on Billboard’s “Hot Latin Songs” chart, marking it the highest debut of 2009 for Latin Pop album and the first time a North American artist had reached the top spot with a song originally written in Spanish. The album went on to be a #1 hit on Billboard’s “Top Latin Album,” as well as ITunes and Amazon Latin music charts. In 2010, Nelly joined producer Bob Ezrin and Young Artists For Haiti in singing K’NAAN’s “Wavin’ Flag” where all proceeds go to Free The Children, War Child Canada and World Vision Canada. A video for “Night Is Young” will be available in the near future. Furtado’s highly anticipated fifth original album will be released in early 2011.

I Spy returns

Daily Telegraph
If the Tories lose their own supporters heaven only knows where we're headed... the right wing will have but one place to turn... they must know the risk... all the more worrying that contrary to another of their election promises, the Coalition Government has revived the Labour snooping plan that was dropped last Autumn. As the Daily Telegraph reports....
Every email, phone call and website visit is to be recorded and stored after the Coalition Government revived controversial Big Brother snooping plans.
It will allow security services and the police to spy on the activities of every Briton who uses a phone or the internet.
Moves to make every communications provider store details for at least a year will be unveiled later this year sparking fresh fears over a return of the surveillance state.
It comes despite the Coalition Agreement promised to "end the storage of internet and email records without good reason".
Any suggestion of a central "super database" has been ruled out but the plans are expected to involve service providers storing all users details for a set period of time.
That will allow the security and police authorities to track every phone call, email, text message and website visit made by the public if they argue it is needed to tackle crime or terrorism.
The information will include who is contacting whom, when and where and which websites are visited, but not the content of the conversations or messages.
The move was buried in the Government's Strategic Defence and Security Review, which revealed: "We will introduce a programme to preserve the ability of the security, intelligence and law enforcement agencies to obtain communication data and to intercept communications within the appropriate legal framework.

Ouch... you could hear the Shadow Chancellor's unscripted punch hit the target - Alan Johnson seized the initiative when he noted many on the Tory benches were cheering what will be misery inflicted on many of the UK's poorest... Chancellor George Osbourne referring to his 'predecessor but one' - "It would have been nice if he could have showed up today". Well you know what they say Brown by name, Brown by nature, and wasn't Ed Milliband convincing? Well wasn't he... no not really. Hard to recover from having convinced many the worst of the recession / double dip recession / depression was over, one of my boss mates fell for that line a year ago he's not been smiling so much recently.
