This week's post ...

A Place To Bury Strangers
In Your Heart
new single 28 September
I'm not sure I like the choice of name .. any trouble and radio stations will drop them like a sack of sh*t! I base that on my OPM 'Heaven In A Halfpipe' 9/11 experience at Red Dragon FM. That aside 'In Your Heart' is a fair pounding 151bpm debut. With xfm type airplay a hit maybe ...

Chase & Status with Plan B
End Credits
new single 2 November
This is beefy accoustic guitar led tune, veering into hip hop : drum & bass if there's such a thing with Plan B (Ben Drew)'s biting vocal. A fine 88-177bpm production by William Kennard & Saul Milton you'll hear during the new Michael Caine movie 'Harry Brown' in cinemas from 13 November. I like this, chance of a hit!

Green Day
East Jesus Nowhere
new single 19 October
The 4'29" edit of another epic tune from the UK's 300,000 selling '21st Century Breakdown' ... a fine work, top forty for sure.

Mr Hudson
White Lies (Remixes)
new single 12 October
A couple of interesting mixes here by Fuzzy Logic and Ruskos Euphoria 69bpm Remix add tasty fresh alternative choices for playout of the new Mr Hudson song. Ben Hudson has this week still got two tracks on the top forty 'Supernova' and his guest showing on Jay-Z's 'Young Forever' - there's a good chance this will be his third! See Mr H on tour with Calvin harris from mid-October, the nearest he gets to Wales is Bristol 02 Academy on the 19th and Birmingham 02 Academy on the 29th October. Good single - hit.

Mondo Diao
Give Me Fire
new album 5 November
Island Records celebrating their 50th year with a host of top quality releases and reissues. Mondo Diao, one of Sweden's most successful music exports have their fifth album released on 2 November. With titles like 'Blue Lining White Trenchcoat', 'Mean Street' and 'Maybe Just Sad' the thirteen track 'Give Me Fire!' should add considerably to their half million sales so far.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool
Dance The Way I Feel
new single 2 November
North London based Ou Est formed in 2008 are Charles Haddon, Joe Hutchinson, Caan Capan and Anders Kallmark. You'll see Ou Est supporting La Roux through November, they love their electro pop and this is a fair first effort, but then hoist in the skills of Armand Van Helden and you get something really special - the usual thumping Van Helden heavily bassed rhythm track, speeding up the original from 118bpm to 127bpm and showcasing the female vocals in a vastly enhanced status. On Armand's remix this should be top five .. it's brilliant.

Weezer
(If You're Wondering If I Want You) I Want You

new single 26 October
Weezer's new single, the first taster from their seventh album 'Ratitude' due 26 October, is a punchy three minute 220bpm affair which should please their many fans and win plenty of new admirers. Good single top playlisted by Radio2xs and promising much for the album - hit!

This week's Top 40 ...

Top 40 Sun 27 Sep 09

Taio Cruz hangs on to top spot over David Guetta & Akon who spend their third week in a row at number two..

Madonna 'Celebrate's another new number one greatest hits album - but as with 'Immaculate Collection' why doesn't she include the hit single versions of 'Vogue', 'La Isla Bonita', 'Express Yourself' and 'Holiday' instead of the inferior album version's.

In America it's getting very predictable 'I Gotta Feeling' it's the Black Eyed Pea's again ... number one for a 13th week - that means Black Eyed Peas have been number one for twenty five of 2009's thrity nine weeks.

Next.. The Globe

Anyone know what's going on in the central brain of Cardiff City Council? Sorry, Cardiff County Council.
They seem to be undermining Cardiff's grass roots live music scene in a devastating way. To anyone who remembers the days when agents would by-pass the Welsh capital things are looking increasingly precarious.
Recently, The Point in Cardiff Bay was forced into closure on the back of expensive soundproofing following a planning decision which led to one newly arrived resident complaining about noise. (We hope the Coal Exchange are ready).
T
his week our sympathies go to Alan Jones pictured above in Tuesdays Echo. Alan, former Amen Corner chart-topping Kairdiff legend has been involved in live music in Cardiff for more than forty years. The Globe, his young venue in Roath is now also in jeopardy, following the impending axeing of it's live music license.
To hang more darkness over the live music community, Clwb Ifor Bach, another 200-400 capacity venue which has spent 25 years working to attract top acts from the UK and around the world also faces an uncertain future following the granting of planning permission for a hostel next door.

Next Cardiff Council will be closing schools and police stations ... oops too late - they're doing it.

Oh hang on there's more .... just in

Roads & Rome
Oh boy, not a day goes by ... from this weekend not all buses will terminate in the bus station .... derrr .... The Council's cabinet member for transport Delme Bowen quoted in Monday's South Wales Echo "There is no reason why the buses should all come to one point".
Really.
Throughout history everyone else was wrong?
See those round things on the bottom of your car, they're called wheels.
Is Cardiff bus station not seconds from Cardiff rail station?
To be fair, Liberal Democrat Councillor Bowen is a Professor of Biology at Cardiff University born and raised in Llanelli so he must know what he's talking about. Mustn't he?
He's also got long fingers in the schools battering programme so remember the name Delme Bowen.

Cotton On
Fearne Cotton took over from Jo Whiley on Radio One's morning show this week, and busy bee Fearne has launched a new range of clothing to coincide .. you've heard the voice, seen the show, now buy the clothes .. I wonder if the Beeb will be taking a share.

Labour's gone mad
Now Police Officers aren't allowed to look after children??? Click here to see the sad story of another rubbish non-sensical New Labour idea gone wrong in the Daily Telegraph In the 80's, many thought Labour incorrectly labelled the loony left, Harriet Harperson wasn't alone in finding herself on the recieving end of a Thatcher government legal case. Surely all this chaos is not just some ill conceived revenge? What can be in the mind's of people responsible for such madness??

Hello Sailor
Ah yes, it's a new academic year
