Well 'Knock Me Down' with a feather if Asher Roth hasn't teamed up with top ten rnb artiste Keri Hilson for a match made in rappin heaven, "check my breasts, get my sweat on my chest in my pants, yeah I'm fresh real fresh... as she frowns turns around with a look like KH ain't lookin for a man I just came to dance, she don't wanna man, she just wants to dance...". Don't you just love college ... this is another top notch track from Asher's 'Asleep in the Bread Aisle' album and well, he's top forty she's top five, let's settle for a top twenty prediction.

The Golden Rule new single 17 August
Biffy pick up where 'Mountains' left off with an anthemic grandiose chugging belter of a tune which is already forcing toes to tap and heads to nod. What with Marmaduke Duke's success Biffy are in a major consolidation period and gathering momentum. Long deserved success... top five again.

The Big Pink
Dominoes new single
"These girls fall like dominoes .... as soon as I love her it's been too long, talks of future with you caves me in, swallow my sugar ....." hmmm a chunky 90bpm backbeat with lush production by the Big Pink & Paul Epworth, mix by Rich Costey on the 4AD record label... the seemingly aloof lyric makes this a stand-out track with it's chanty chorale, reminiscent of some Oasis vibes ... big potential here I suspect

Magnet new single
'Magnet' intros with a slapping drumtrack similar sounding to Blur's 'Song 2'. That can't be a bad thing, an interesting idea for a band who are creating quite a stir. Two versions on this cd feature the 3 minute radio edit and the near five minute album version spooky distorted vocals in a trademark fashion should again pick up favourable airplay.

Don't Bring Flowers Remixes new single
"Don't bring flowers after I'm dead ..." five fine remixes here by Crystal Fighters, Plugs, Yes Giantess, Everything Everything and the original which starts with a simulated heavenly chorale and chunky guitar riff "I'm under pressure, came into overdrive, I'm a loose cannon I will not make it out alive..." .Yeah an interesting release should raise awareness of the man and pick up some fans, good tune.

Pearl Jam
The Fixer new single 7 September, digital 24 August
Pearl Jam's new album 'Backpacker' is due 21 September, from it the first single 'The Fixer' has already predictably been made Zane Lowe's Hottest Record In The World. The band will be playing just five European shows to support the record, only one in the UK at Shepherds Bush Empire on next Tuesday 11th August 2009. Much loved Pearl Jam making a return of any sort should be top twenty, possibly top ten ...

I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight new single 17 August
60,000 will be at Millenium Stadium on 22 August to pay U2 their dues and to coincide with their five UK dates Bono & Co. release a new single, an edited version of 'I'll Go Crazy', the third single taken from their 'No Line On The Horizon'. Listening to Bono's searing vocals it's hard to imagine him ever settling for less than par, the wailing heartfelt vocals say he means it, most of the time I'm not sure what it is he means but there can be little doubt in the sincerity of a man who's led a band formed with childhood friends for 33 years. As Dave Brayley's very favourable preview in Cardiff's August Buzz listings mag, it's quite awesome really.
