This week's post ...

Alphabeat
The Spell
new single 12 October
Another excellent single from the great Danes, top twenty for sure! 'Wonky' six piece Alphabeat are back with another catchy top forty primed hit ... should chart easily.

Athlete
Black Swan
new album 10 August
At last a new album from Athlete. The band's fourth album with it's lead single 'Superhuman Touch' should keep the converted happy - however not sure many new ears will turn their way.

Baddies
Open One Eye
new single 28 September
'Baddies ... baddie baddie yum yum' ... oh no that was The Goodies wasn't it? Hey this is a fine three minute power pop opus travelling at 164bpm ... "We all sleep better tonight if we open one eye .. watch your head!". Good single with a bit of luck you never know ..

Kraftwerk
12345678
new album 12 October
Yippee, it's great to get this pack through the post. Possibly the most influential electro outfits ever, now their first eight albums are remastered with the latest technology and sounding as fresh as ever. Tracks featured on this sampler include 'We Are the Robots', 'The Man Machine', 'Radio-Activity', 'Trans Europe Express' and a live version of their UK number one 'The Model'. 35 years since the landmark album 'Autobahn' was released and at last a chance to get a 3 minute version of the title track. An essential addition to any collection.

La Roux
I'm Not Your Toy
new single 28 September
Hard to see this third single from La Roux going to number one as most fans will already have it on the 900,000 selling debut album however I said that about GaGas 'Poker Face' and that only hung around for nine months .... 'I'm Not Your Toy' is another tough single from the Lady master of UK electro - top ten for sure.

Mr Hudson
White Lies
new single 12 October
He's in the top forty on Jay-Z's 'Young Forever', 'Supernova' has been a great success for our Ben and now with his other big urban pal Kanye in an embarrassing phase his new song 'White Lies' is ready to hit the charts. The second single to be lifted from the forthcoming album 'Straight No Chaser' due 19 october should replicate that success with ease.

Voluntary Butler Scheme
Trading Things In
new EP 19 October
'Trading Things In' -
"If you were a brocoli, I'd turn vergetarian for you ... " Voluntary Butler scheme aka Rob Jones has an eccentric and unusual talent for the absurd. far more than wallpaper easy listening, there's an uneasy edginess in yet charm about his style, in the wonderfully titled 'Arctic Climate' .. "Just like coffee and tea I need you regularly... you radiator, you radiate my life ... and in the Arctic climate I need you there...". Aaahh the good man deserves success and if Jamie T can be on Jonathan Ross so should our Rob. Well worthy.

Wild Beasts
All The King's Men
new single 5 October
Leeds amazing Wild Beasts return with a second single pulled from their 'Two dancers' album. The girl mad 'All The King's Men' has a hyptnotic drum intro and features Tom Fleming's vocal on times a 'decadent tenor' - it's their most accessible single yet and with gals from Shipley, Whitby, Roedean and Hounslow this surely must be some new spin of winning formula. Excellent

This week's Top 40 ...

Top 40 Sun 6 Sep 09

Jay-Z's new tune goes straight to the top in the UK and strangely drops to 6 in the US after last weeks high of 5.

Shame Sugababes didn't delay the release of their superb runner-up 'Get Sexy', maybe they will score another chart-topper next week.

What's with Kings Of Leon? 'Sex On Fire' gets the highest climb up 27 to 6 while 'Use Somebody' is back at 36.

6 new entries & 1 re-entry – 3 up, 29 down, 1 non-mover

End of Noughties
A Meldrew here, welcome to Cardiff 2009/2010, yep the end of the decade, bye bye noughties hello another ten years it's difficult name until we get to thirteen or maybe we'll just leave it til we reach the twenty twenties.

It's a great time to be in South Wales and before you ask no-one asked us so we're going to continue using capitals for south Wales, so that's South Wales - ok. I mean even the residents of St. Petersberg had a vote on whether to stick with Leningrad or change back.

Even with the expected upturn to the economy with JLS heading here and averaging £6k spend per night the pressure's on and just like Children In Need's coffers defy gravity by bulging bigger each year so exam pass rates are getting better and better, we're going to be so brainy we can overcome any hurdle even the new degree for Golf Course Management.

More proof the worst is over, a humungous great mother of all road humps on the main road through Cardiff City centre by the castle, it's going to become a tourist attraction on it's own. It's arrived in time for our excellent new St.David's 2 shopping centre which will undoubtedly become the envy of the world and is now over half occupied.

With our bill for Bank Aid not due to arrive until after the upcoming general election, it's reassuring that the 15p per gallon fuel duty increase has landed, the same week manufacture of traditional light bulbs is banned and Cardiff Council announced plans to put street lighting on dimmer switches.

If I were a disc jockey I could think of a song... oh yeah, how about "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades" - now there's an oldie but goldie that sums it up, thank you not forgotten by me Tim Buk 3.
