Alex Clare
Up All Night
new single 10 January 2011
Well.. only two things smell like fish and I would bet the ladyluv star of Alex Clares new vid has sampled both... confusing vid though, why has she only half undressed for the skinny dip and is he throwing an electric light in the pool??? Either way 'Up All Night' is an interesting fusion of rock and dancehall which makes both genres now sound almost pre-historic... this could be a ground-breaking record in our multi-culti hotch potch, to hear those almost grungy electric guitars strummed over a dancehall beat with a Jamockney vocal... weird... but if Mr Clare pushes on down this road surely soon a massive hit will emerge! Topness!! Press info...

Alex Clare is a 25 year old from North London
A keen fisherman, qualified chef
part Raekwon part Blumenthal
A walking encyclopedia - Ask him anything...
“Up All Night” is the first tune from his forthcoming debut album due for release in the summer of 2011.
It was produced by Diplo & Switch (Major Lazer), conceived in Golders Green and recorded in Jamaica, Los Angeles and New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
A feature on a forthcoming edit of the track comes from one of the hottest new LA rappers Gilbere Forte.
An absolute banger of a remix comes courtesy of SBTRKT – also one of the hottest new producer/ DJs around right now

Elbow
Neat Little Rows
new single 28 February 2011
Great to have Elbow back... hope this hits big... Here's the press release.... Following the immense success of the double platinum selling ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’, Elbow are pleased to announce that the release of their fifth studio album will be on 7th March 2011. Once again, recorded in their facility within Blueprint Studios in Salford and produced by the band’s Craig Potter, ‘build a rocket boys!’ continues one of the most intriguing and heart warming stories in British music.
Always one of the UK’s most loved and influential bands, ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ saw Elbow become one of its most successful, winning the Mercury Music Prize album of the year in 2008 with the band being voted Best British Band at The BRITS in 2009. The band also picked up an NME Award, a South Bank Show prize for Best Album and the Mojo Best Track Award for ‘One Day Like This’ which also garnered an Ivor Novello alongside a second Ivor for ‘Grounds For Divorce’.
The band also played their biggest ever UK shows, a celebratory night at London’s Wembley Arena quickly superseded by a massive sold out home town finale show at Manchester’s MEN Arena to over 17,000 people, a fitting send off for the band after what had been an incredible two years.
‘Build a rocket boys!’ features guest contributions from the Halle Youth Choir, retaining Elbow’s strong links with both their home town and the Halle itself, with whom they collaborated on a very special show at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall in 2009.
Elbow tour the UK in March of 2011, all dates are at www.elbow.co.uk. Please note that a second date at London’s O2 has been added to the tour due to overwhelming public demand

Eric Prydz
Niton (The Reason)
new single date to be confirmed

Another fine single from Eric Prydz and as you'd expect all the mixes are useful - I like the radio edit and the original mix is pucker! Here's the pr.... Eric Prydz is one of the few dance artists circa 2010/11 who combine critical and commercial acclaim. ‘Niton (The Reason)’ is bearing all the hallmarks of becoming his 4th UK hit, having grown from an underground instrumental smash into one of 2010’s biggest club anthems. The track has been a Zane Lowe ‘Hottest Record In The World’, a Cool Cuts No.1, Essential New Tune for Pete Tong, and been championed by Annie Mac, Scott Mills, Vernon Kay, and many more.
A household name with a No.1 and two No.2 UK hit singles under his belt, Prydz has enjoyed one of his best 12 months to date. His arena at Creamfields was the busiest of the festival, he sold out his London warehouse event weeks in advance, his show at Manchester’s Warehouse Project sold out faster than any other, and his season-long residency at Cream Ibiza broke previous records. Meanwhile, a steady flow of Pryda releases (under his underground pseudonym) has ensured he’s remained Beatport’s biggest-selling producer.
Following Prydz’s No.1 debut for Ministry Of Sound, he was the only artist ever to be given the go ahead to sample Pink Floyd. Prydz released the Grammy nominated ‘Proper Education’, the reworking of Floyd’s ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ that reached No.2 in the UK charts. Eric took charge of the music video; the resulting promo and its accompanying environmental theme was hailed by Greenpeace, used as part of the NGO’s own marketing campaign, and is still requested by schools across the world.
He followed ‘Proper Education’ in 2008 with the instrumental, ‘Pjanoo’. After becoming Beatport’s fastest selling release, the track was championed by Zane Lowe and Pete Tong, given 4 separate Radio 1 ‘Record of the Week’ accolades and was playlisted by the station seven weeks upfront of its release; it hit No.2 that summer.

Japanese Pop Stars
Song For Lisa
new single 28 February 2011
I'm a big fan of The Japanese Pop Stars from the name through the excellent 'Let Go' right through the six excellent mixes of the new tune 'Song For Lisa', listen out for the Benny Benassi and Tong & rogers mixes. Top Five if you ask me. Here's the press release...
'Song For Lisa' is a ghostly and icy house anthem that features Mercury Prize-nominated Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan. It is taken from The Japanese Popstars' new album, 'Controlling Your Allegiance' (released this summer). The Japanese Popstars – Gary Curran, Declan ‘Decky Hedrock’ McLaughlin and Gareth Donoghue – may have been together for just four years, but they’ve carved out a reputation to rival the biggest names in dance music as a must-see live act and purveyor of raucous, foot-stomping, energetic electronic dance music.

Joy Formidable
Austere
new single 17 January 2011
Super strength riffing on display here and with an Enter Shikari remix included you get the impression these guys will be here for the long haul... top noise. Here's the pr...
The Joy Formidable are Ritzy Bryan (Vocals / Guitar), Rhydian Daffyd (Bass) and Matt Thomas (Drums) and they begin the New Year with a taster for their debut album, ‘The Big Roar’. ‘Austere’ is a perfect calling card, harnessing the sheer power of the band’s overdriven guitars to a perfect pop chorus. Re-recorded from its first incarnation and remixed by Rich Costey, ‘Austere’ explains in three minutes why The Joy Formidable are seen by many as the band most likely to go supernova in 2011. 2010 saw the trio rise to prominence through a series of incendiary live performances and festival shows, including two heart stopping sets at Reading and Leeds and a high profile headline slot on the NME Radar Tour in October. With lead singer Ritzy in both the NME Cool List and News Of The World’s women to watch list it is clear that the coming year is sure to be a good one for the band.
‘Austere’ is released on 7” and digital download on 17th January alongside a remix from a very special guest and is followed by their debut album, ‘The Big Roar’ on January 24th, 2011.
The band tour the UK through February, dates are as follows:
FEBRUARY

Wednesday 2nd - Bristol, Thekla

My Chemical Romance
Sing
new single 10 january 2011
Another worthy single from MCR... did I imagine it or were they Number One a few years back... why did 'Na Na' struggle so... I hope there's some upturn in rock fortunes with 'Sing' surely worthy of Top Twenty... Top totty!

Skream & Example
Shot Yourself In The Foot Again
new single to be confirmed
I bet film-making Example had some fun making this vid... that chilli loooked good, what a waste in the bin... "never shoulda listened to the serpent, you've shot yourself in the foot again, face looks jaded clothes look faded... keep walking on my friend..." muses Skream - while the Mrs waits there's sly shagging with a.n.other to be done bit of well endowed tasty titty on show but damn... his true love pregnant... all in all it's another uplifting tale of happiness... great production, I love the elctro... exploding keyboard thuds. Example's on a role and each time demonstrates quite some talent. Big hit! Here's the pr....
Both completely off their nuts at a dubstep rave, Example & Skream met a few years ago on a beach in Miami and instantly hit it off.
Example was a massive fan of Skream...Skream liked one maybe two of Example’s songs. A day in the studio gave birth to two new songs. One of those will be on Example’s forthcoming 3rd LP alongside productions from Nero, Faithless, Michael Woods and Chase & Status. The other is ‘Shot Yourself In The Foot Again’, which debuted on Zane Lowe’s show on 4th January 2011 as his ‘Hottest Record In The World’ and was followed by a spin a few hours later on Annie Mac’s show. MistaJam then gave it its BBC 1xtra premiere on 5th January. There will also be a video directed by Example himself (he used to study film at uni don’t you know!)

The View
Friend 2 Bears Remix

Thanks to Marc Ronson there may be renewed interest in The View... Strange that Scots The View, Glasvegas, Fratellis and Welsh bands like Lostprophets and The Automatic have struggled.. demographics shifting towards an r&b populace perhaps... 'Same Jeans' really kicked in and there were more fine singles that followed so why so quiet I don't know... I hope theyget the cut of the gib this time.

Willow & Tinie Tempah
Whip My Hair DC Remix

Willow and Mr Music Biz 2011 Tinie Tempah... he's everywhere at the moment isn't he... in and out of the knickers... wondered if he's Willowed yet... whatever it's much requested and top notch - wish I hadn't gone skin-ead.

You Me At Six & Chiddy
Rescue Me
new single 13 February 2011
Another genre pairing genre busting tune from YMAS & Chiddy with an interesting take on 'Rescue Me'.. "the hate fills my sleep so rescue me...". Catchy
chorus, great subdued atmosphere to the track and Chiddy's well defined vocals ake it a thumbs up... big hit potential.
Here's the pr...
Plans for 2011 escalate with Blink 182 dates and rescheduled Edinburgh shows... The exploding popularity of YOU ME AT SIX looks set to burst through to the next level when they release the brand new single ‘Rescue Me’ on February 13th through Virgin Records. ‘Rescue Me’ is a collaboration with Chiddy, one half of genre-breaking label mates Chiddy Bang who hit the charts with their single ‘Opposite of Adults’ which sampled MGMT’s ‘Kids’.
Firm fans of the duo’s mini album ‘The Preview’, YOU ME AT SIX saw Chiddy Bang play at London’s King’s College in October. Having loved the show, they met up afterwards, immediately clicked with Chiddy and suggested that he could be perfect for a new song that they were working on. The result was ‘Rescue Me’, a track that shows the band’s ability to weave fresh new influences into their sound. Currently coming to the end of a sold-out UK tour that concludes with two headline shows at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo, YOU ME AT SIX will hit the road in July as guests on an Arena tour with pop-punk legends and their childhood heroes Blink 182.
July 2011
1st Birmingham NIA
4th Liverpool Arena
7th Sheffield Arena
8th Manchester MEN Arena
12th Newcastle Arena
13th Nottingham Arena
15th Birmingham Arena
16th Cardiff Arena
18th London O2 Arena
19th London O2 Arena
In addition to the Blink 182 tour, YOU ME AT SIX will also play two dates at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on Jan 7th and 8th. The Edinburgh shows were originally scheduled as part of their current tour, but their postponement was forced due to the inclement weather and related transport issues. The band will also play Cardiff University Great Hall on Jan 6th and Newcastle Academy on the 9th.
2010 delivered a steady stream of career landmarks in YOU ME AT SIX’s ascension to the top. Their second album ‘Hold Me Down’ debuted at #5 in the charts, in the process highlighting the band’s increasingly sophisticated ability to blend devastating dynamics with immediate pop-fuelled hooks and intense lyrical themes. All the singles that were taken from the album were A Listed at Radio One and ‘Liquid Confidence’ earned the band the coveted 2010 Kerrang Award for ‘Best Single’.

DJ Chris Moyles Loses Libel Case
A Welsh inventor was awarded substantial undisclosed libel damages yesterday, after suing the BBC and Radio One Disc Jockey Chris Moyles.
The libellous statement was broadcast in 1999, when Moyles claimed that Andrew Wilkey’s invention was a “con.” The Llantwit Major-based businessman was said to have been “appalled and humiliated”
by the statement made by the out spoken star.
Mr Wilkey had been the subject of a news feature on the Radio One show, after pioneering a scratchproof CD, but after a short test at the studio, Moyles concluded it did not work and deemed it to be a “con.”
Mr Wilkey established DAS Systems in 1995, in order to exploit the process that enabled him to coat selective parts of a CD in a protective film.
Counsel for the Claimant, Andrew Monson, told Mr Justice Tugendhat at London’s High Court, that Mr Wilkey had patented his invention in 1997.
Following the statement made by Moyles, the BBC broadcast an acknowledgement stating that the invention did in fact protect the CD from scratches and did not hinder the sound quality of the recording.
Nevertheless, notwithstanding the statement the sales of the product collapsed and DAS Systems was
forced into liquidation.
The BBC agreed to pay the Claimant’s costs, a substantial sum of damages and acknowledge the publicity that the BBC should not have impugned Mr Wilkey’s integrity.
Moyles, the self styled “saviour of Radio One,” has boosted audience figures to a two year high, reaching 10.24 million people.
