One Gal three 'Boys' ... Dragonette

Blaqk Audio
CexCells
new album 27 August 07
Stiff Kittens and 80s electro aplenty, aimed for dancefloorage and very authentic.

Fall Out Boy
I'm Like A Lawyer (Me & You)
new single 17 September 07
Here's the latest emo equivalent of Harry Potter ... three wordy minutes from one of the biggest new bands of the past two years - another great single from the superb 'Infinity On High' album.

Foo FIghters
The Pretender
new single 10 September
Yep another storming slice of Dave Grohl's pounding drumming songstering, ah it's great. New album 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' is due on 24 September.

Ian Brown
Illegal Attacks
new single 17 September
Brown is back more uncompromising than ever - the spine-tingling tear-jerking climax to Illegal Attacks comes right at the end with a pleading female vocal from out of nowhere. The impass The Stone Roses found themselves in in the early nineties was an evil creation, from it has come a sharpened eye and pen of one of music's unique characters - Illegal Attacks asks criticalt questions with scathing delivery.

Stephen Fretwell
Scar
new single 3 September
Another interesting single from Stephen Fretwell, and now he may be leaning towards James Morrison who seems to have discovered a hit formula. This jaunty little accoustic number may pick up airplay on Radio 2 and lift off for Top Forty ...

Ash
End Of The World
new single 10 September
Ash continue to deliver quality material and 'End Of The World' showcases a more mellow side.
A song to please Ash fans and go Top Twenty for sure.

PJ Harvey
When Under Ether
new single 17 September
Polly is an original, a unique talent. 'Ether' delivers another edgy melancholy and it looks as though her bite is as deep as ever.
Essential for PJ fans and crossover potential too

Rumble Strips
Girls & Weather
new album 17 September 07
Rumble Strips make fine uplifting indie with a keen ear for authentic sixties style soul / r&b which strangely seems to work increasingly well. Girls & Boys is a great single, and the entire album is similarly light hearted, Oh Creole is superb, and single Motorcycle and Alarm Clock are excellent. A fine debut from a band who played Cardiff Barfly a couple of times this past year and are heading for the bigger league

Smashing Pumpkins
Zeitgeist
new album 9 July 07
As popular as ever Tarantula was a fine appetite whetter, That's My Way makes an excellent second single, Bleeding The Orchid has a compelling intro, then there's the desperate 'United States', the ironic Starz, the Transformers soundtrack Doomsday Clock and a pic of Paris ... Hilton that is. A sheer power attack of a seven year itch and a blistering return to form

Fortune Drive
Girls & Stripes
new single 17 September
These Bristol based lads, Fortune Drive played a couple of shows at Cardiff Barfly with their controlled aggression and wisely self edited short sharp tunes. 'Girls In Stripes' is another fine example of minimalism, at 2'27" it's straight to point and the second track 'Yoghurt' and it's "I only want to feed you this ..." lyric is an interesting 2 minute listen - it's not the first time I've found myself really liking a Fortune Drive B track.

Ida Maria
Oh My God
new single 1 October 07
Hot Swedish raunch ... 'Oh My God, d'you think it's all a joke' there's a biting dig at someone or something here and track two 'We're All Going To Hell' probably tell's at least a little of the Ida Maria psychie .. hot and bothered and foloowing Glasto 07 a chart chancer.
