Anti-Flag -
For Blood & Empire
new single 24 April
Rage Against The Machine Approved ... Anti-Flag are on the warpath or peacepath as Tom Morello of Rage and Audioslave says "Anti-Flag are the most important emerging band in America. Uncompromising, ferocious and absolutely right.

In desperate times like these the world needs a band like Anti-Flag to set shit straight." For Blood & Empire is a concept album, in fact Anti-Flag are less of a band and more of a movement, visit www.newamericancentury.org XXXx www.anti-flag.com (Posted 24 March)
Belle & Sebastian-
The Blues Are Still Blue
new single 8 May
Belle & Sebastian's second single from their seventh album 'The Life Pursuit' and again it's a 'nice' track, with clever harmony and arrangement ... nice is a good word to describe wallpaper because it's obvious that although critically acclaimed their material is over the heads of much of their potential audience. Shame really coz it's nice. If nasty's what you'd prefer then give a listen to their version of Thin Lizzy's 'Whiskey In The Jar'. XXX

The Upper Room -
Black & White
new single 8 May
The Upper Room reached No. 37 with their 'All Around This Town' and another stand-out track which has been serviced to many jock's over the last year is 'Black & White'. Quartet The Upper Room formed in Brighton and feature Alex Miller on lead vox, their record label Columbia (Sony) were hooked during a reccy to The Upper Rooms rehearsal studio and after seeing the boys play just three songs. "Coldplay watch your backs" says Arena ... the debut album 'Other People's Problems' will be released in August. XXX

The Flaming Lips -
The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song
new single3 April
The Flaming Lips.. of Sponmgebobsquarepants The Movie fame have come up with an equally bizarre tune here, 'The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song' runs at nearly five mins and has a neat radio edit. Unusually the albun 'At War With The Mystics' is released three weeks before this single and I'm wondering why? It's a hooky little tune, clever harmonies, a bit of a leftfield lyric, and should easily make the To 30. The Lips are here in April, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and London check their site for ticket details at the link below. XXX

Tiga -
Far From Home
new single 1 May
Montreal based Tiga's new single 'Far From Home' is lifted from the Sexor album backed with an excellent remix package. The excellent 'Bascombe Radio Mix' at 2'50" is more or less perfect. The Speed of Sexor Reprise has an enhanced thumping bassline that will mix nicely with Human League's 'Don't You Want Me' and is followed the Digitalism Remix, try The Chicken Lips Dub Deluxe and the DFA Remix. Tiga's chums DJ Hell and Felix Da Housecat may soon envy him 'Far From Home', a chunky piece of electro which with a little radio airplay and luck could well be Top 40. XXX

The Streets -
When You Wasn't Famous (Bromheads Jacket Mix)
new single 27 March
Mike Skinner likes a little rocky guitar with his cornflakes, recently appearing on a Bloc Party track and here he is with the Bromheads. Now rearranged into a spunky, punky 2 minute epic
"When you're a famous boy it's really easy to get girls, it's all so easy that you get spoiled, If you try to pull a bird who is also famous too then it's like when you wasn't famous" .... with his witty and jovial observations on the availability of loose people being less so when they become famous. Ahhh it's good artistic stuff possibly second only to 'Fit & You Know It' in The Street's Greatest XXXx

Kubb -
Remain
new single 1 May
Kubb aka Harry Collier has a number one song here. 'Remain' was first released a year ago to some success, attracting play from Radio One and Radio Two since then 'Wicked Soul' and 'Grow' have seen Kubb establish themselves musically and appearance wise on the likes of TV's Jools Holland. 'Remain' is an awesome composition chronicling the feelings of bereavement following the death of a parent, "I still remain" mature soulful lyrics with a superb arrangement, did I say Number One ... if there's any justice. Horse -
Same Old Same Old
new download single 3 April
Let's go back ... 1990 ... 'To The Speed Of The Beat Of Your Heart' what an awesome British Soul Rock song hailing from the very tonsils of this here Horse. Horse has an amazingly soulful voice, I feel sooner or later she will get the bit of luck needed to jump into the mainstream, it's not often you'll hear such a chiselled haunting delivery and Horse writes her own material. 'Same Old, Same Old' is released to promote her first full band tour in some time, beginning tonight Fri 24 March at East Kilbride Village Theatre, then Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy, North Shields, Sheffield, London, Brum, Hebden Bridge, Leicester and Brighton on 22 April. Khoma -
The Second Wave
new album 3 April
Roadrunner Records debutants Khoma hail from Sweden and they've been ten years in preparing for attempting to take centre stage. Khoma provide some thoughtful mid-tempo metal here, very easy on more mainstream ears again with a little luck .... XXX
