The Charlatans - Blackened Blue Eyes new single 3 April The Charlatans have scored a brilliant new single in 'Blackened Blue Eyes' produced by Jim Lowe of Stereophonics credits. A fab piano intro and a clever song from the ninth Charatans album 'Simpatico' which will be in the shops on 17 April. A fine record true to thei madchester roots. The Strokes - Heart In A Cage new single 3 April The Strokes have a certain sound which is quite irresistable, Heat In A Cage might sound like a weaker song to begin with but with a few plays it grows quite considerably. Three CD singles are available for a fiver on Monday, one has the vid, one has the Ramones Cover and one has an album track demo ... and The Modern were banned from the chart .... the illusion of the chart has worn so thin The Automatic and Panic At The Disco deliberately got their singles ineligable for chart success - it is ridiculous ask GLC. Anyways, this is a great tune. XXXX www.thestrokes.com (Posted 18 March) |

The Flaming Lips - At War With The Mystics new album 3 April The ese Lippy types were in The Spongebob Movie, yikes! Yoshimi, Pink Robots a natural progression to the Spongey one, and now a single The Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be delighted with .. 'The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song' ... out on 24 April, nearly five mins long and already playlisted and much loved The Flaming Lips should find themselves in The Fab Forty, alright pop pickers not 'alf. Milburn - Send In The Boys new single 27 March Sheffield's 4-piece Milburn are monkeying around, well a little anyway .. touring with the Arctics and sounding a little reminiscent of them on this their debut single 'Send In The Boys'. Full of energy, and real life topicality, they've already pencilled second single 'What You Could've Won' (unbelievable title considering my week) for a 10th July release. Adam Green - Nat King Cole new single 17 April Bizarre as ever Adam Green's on the warpath again, fourth album 'Jacket Full Of Danger' is released through Rough Trade on 10 April. The former Moldy Peach sounds akin to a soft accoustic guitar based Jim Morrison .. it's a more and more appealing menu he dishes up and four songs here are equally entertaining. Single 'Nat King Cole' should have no trouble denting the Top 40, covers of Buddy Holly's 'Crying Waiting Hoping' and Sam Cookes 'Cupid' are accompanied by what sounds like a demo of a new song 'Bleeding Heart' recorded on 15 Feb, yep it's that recent and it comes on like Windy Miller from Camberwick Green, mesmerizing XXXx www.adamgreen.com (Posted 17 March) |

Brakes - All Night Disco Party new single 3 April Brakes have just finished touring with Editors and Belle & Seb and Maximo Park and are looking good beneath the Glitter Ball. Hey this is a remix of a single released last year and it should have been big then, I think it'll be on it's way now! Someone had to pick up on the partying theme of 'All Night Disco Party' it looks like it was Italy first, then Australia, France, and Malaysia... UK next then. A great precursor and now follow-up to 'Ring- Ding-Ding'. XXXX www.brakesbrakesbrakes.com (Posted 17 March) |

Snow Patrol - You're All I Have new single 24 April This is a ballsy song from Snow Patrol that should have no problems ringing the cash register. Fiction records release the new album 'Eyes Open' on 1st May and 'You're All I Have' out on 24 April is lush. The band are at London's Koko on April 12th and in May at Glasgow ABC 1st, Manchester Ritz 2nd, Cardiff Uni 3rd, London Forum on 5th & 6th, and Belfast Ulster Hall on the 8th. It's the biz XXXX www.snowpatrol.net (Posted 17 March) |

Protocol - Love Is My Drug new single 10 April Protocol have got another storming single here, 'Love Is My Drug' - "cos tonight I've got a strange addiction, Love Is My Drug it's the gift you gave me, I'm coming up on a high you gave me" worthy follow-up to 'Where's The Pleasure' and 'She Waits For Me', a massive rolling bass line (similar to CCS Band Played The Boogie maan that's a long time ago) and the soaring vocals of John Pritchard - catchy, Top 40, brilliant. Killing Joke - Hosanna From The Basements Of Hell new single 20 March new album 3 April Killing Joke are back and I think I can hear Lemmy in 'Hosannas' somewhere, we are talking heavy sh*t! Watch those speakers they're wobbling over .. one of my favourite 80s hits is Killing Joke's 'Love Like Blood', the new crop of songs is equally formidable. This band do their shit cos they love their shit and you can hear that they love it - no messing. XXXx www.killingjoke.com (Posted 17 March) |
