Gym Class Heroes & Papoose -
New Friend Request

new remix single to be confirmed

Where did these guys come from - this is brilliant!
"New friend request - click approve!" it's the first MySpace anthem. This re-mix featuring New York MC Papoose (as heard on Busta Rhymes 'Touch It' and Joe's new tune 'Where You At') is not yet available but it's worth a wager that it will become a smash if or rather when it is eventually released. Killers -
When You Were Young

new single 18 September

When a song is requested even before download availability it's a sure sign of demand. By the end of September the 130bpm 'When You Were Young' should become The Killers first chart-topper with the album 'Sam's Town' following two week's later. Controversially to some and like Incubus they use the word 'Jesus' as a hook, confirming their upward mobility.

The Terminals -
Dictator
new single 18 December
"When he was just a little boy, going to school, they used to beat him up and call him names, they can be so cruel, but he vowed revenge, he's gonna get 'em back later when he grows up to be a Dictator" ... The Terminals could have made this in 1977 or for that matter 1937 .. it's kind of novelty and kind of timeless in a punky vein. United they are, from Leeds they are ... there's hope yet. Great! Infadels -
Love Like Semtex
new single 15 May
Infadels follow-up to 'Can't Get Enough' is another pounding floor-shaker with a daunting title 'Love Like Semtex'. It could be painful, there is a quite interestingly different approach to the vocal here, kinda reminiscent of the Jungle days of 1990 when every second beat per bar seemed to feature a high pitched hiccup a-la Rebel MC 'Street Tuff' stylee. Semtex is a fine tune and this band want to crack the dancefloor as well as the charts, thumping bass a plenty - good stuff. XXXX

new single 3 July
"We won't remember a thing in the morning!". Whatever it is Razorlight and Johnny Burrell have it. Their last single 'Somewhere Else' was so close to winning the battle for No.1 last year, 'In The Morning' featuring new drummer Andy Burrows could well become the anthem of the Summer and go one better, it would help if it stopped raining. Ecstacy
new sampler promo only
Derry four piece Kharma 45 (great name) have come up with a superb debut. 'Ecstacy' begins with a dour air raid siren like drone which after a few seconds leads into a pounding bass & guitar line, bang on lyrics and a catchy hook. 'Luchia' and 'Medicene Pool' quickly impress as equally appealing. Quote

'Same Jeans' is a superb single, off-beat enuff for Radio One and charming enough for Radio 2 ... in fact I can hear Wogan musing on the tardi-ness of failing to put one's jeans in the wash even now. new single 20 Mar

The time has come for Trivium, and 'Dying In Your Arms' is going to be a massive hit for this Florida foursome. Lifted from the album 'Ascendancy' 'Dying In Your Arms' is written by lead singer Mathew K Heafy and almost qualifies for emo, almost - there is a haunting, more mellow quality to the noize. Mystery Jets have been leapfrogged by The Arctic Monkeys but they shouldn’t worry. They have a quite special sound and presentation and their quirky songs are uniquely feelgood. Tongue firmly in cheek ‘Diamonds’ originally appeared on their ‘Making Dens’ debut album, now it features a gorgeous atmospheric accoustic guitar intro re-recorded with wonder Producer Stephen Street. SWR = Justin Warfield (singer with the Chemical Brothers, Prince Paul and Bomb The Bass) and Adam Bravin (one of Los Angeles top hip hop dj's working with Dr.Dre, Rakim and Alkaholiks). She Wants Revenge -
new album 24 July
She Wants Revenge have come up with an album full of really challenging material ... and I'm not sure I like it ... it's very in your face ... very psychotic, cold, machinelike, feelingless. Packed with edgy venom and double entendre. Musically it's a variation on the old electro of Human League, Depeche Mode except this has real bite. I'm not sure that these guys shouldn't be locked up. 'Tear You Apart' and 'Out Of Control' have been massive hits on LA's indie/rock KROQ for months - She Wants Revenge have supported Bloc party,
The Kills, The Killers and not so surprisingly Depeche Mode. Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin formed She Wants Revenge in 2003 to make hip-hop but their plans changed and evolved into something quite different. Warfield has sung with The Chemical Brothers, Prince Paul and Bomb The Bass and Bravin has helped Dr Dre, Rakim and Tha Alkaholiks as well as being a renowned LA hip hop DJ for many years. There's great potential for a Friday 13th style live show with material un-nerving as this. XXXXx shewantsrevenge.com (Posted 24 Jul)

U2 & Green Day
Saints Are Coming

new single:download 30 October: CD 6 Nov

Bono may be the U2 member who talks on issues such as debt relief and AIDS funding, but for the past year the Edge has quietly undertaken a mission of his own: getting instruments back into the hands of musicians who lost everything in the wake of the Gulf hurricanes. As New Orleans' Superdome re-opened its doors to football, U2 & Green Day helped celebrate Big Easy's rebirth. Their opening ceremony live show featured this cover of 'The Saints Are Coming', a minor hit in 1979 for one of Scotland's seminal bands The Skids (featuring amateur boxer & TV Presenter Richard Jobson & Stuart 'Big Country' Adamson). For some strange reason yet again this is an excellent slab of pop punk power, with an added ingredient ... spaghetti western type backing vocals. Two of the biggest bands in the world getting together could easily have turned into a grotesque disaster but Billie & Bono's vocals were made for each other and the production is from another world - How do U2 keep coming up with the goods - awe inspiring! new EP 3 Apr
The blistering chorus, the call to arms, the thundering charge of Hope Of The States. Limited Edition 10" vinyl from Columbia Records (Sony) on 3rd April. Such is the fast turnover in marketing and ... well, pop music. The band's second album 'Left' is due for release in June and another new single in May. 'Blood Meridian' is a brilliant track, fantastic lyrics suggest a much deeper raison d'etre.

See them perform their new material at Cardiff Barfly on Tuesday 18th April. 'Blood Meridian' will be released on Monday 3 April as a limited edition 10" with great production, spine-tingling arrangement, the song words below indicate how important the band could become ...

Blood Meridian - lyrics by Hope Of The States

The money's running out, the casino's burning down
The police are getting nervous
Transmission's shot and the school's are all locked
The offices shut up shop
But it's quiet on the streets today I think I know what's going on
But I'm scared to say in case I get it wrong and I've made a big mistake

Emergency emergency someone acted honesly
Better string 'em up tie 'em down never let the news get out
Never let it happen again
Emergency emergency someone meant every word they said
Should we beat 'em up lock 'em up throw away the key
Never let it happen again

There's a flood coming in and the snow is coming down
There's fighting on every corner
There's trouble with the kids that were bullied at school
This is the only chance you're getting
Stand up for the put upon the worried and the anxious
don't be too scared to say that they got it all wrong and made a big mistake

Emergency emergency someone acted honesly
Better string em up tie em down never let the news get out
Never let it happen again
Emergency emergency someone meant every word they said
Should we beat em up beat em up throw away the key
Never let it happen again

Tell me tell me how we ended up so cynically
Should we beat it up, start again, made mistakes, try to change
Never let it happen again

Tell me what's wrong with me
Every single thing you do

Three more tracks included on this EP .. 'Under The Wires', 'A Horse' and 'Drinkers On The Dry' are in the vein of a moody Jim Morrison - brilliant! XXXX hopeofthestates.com (Posted 9 March)

  The Lemonheads -
Become The Enemy
new album 16 October
"It's my fault, I never learned a trade, so I just sleep all day" the imortal line opening line of 'Become The Enemy" heralding the return of Evan Dando and co. with a first single from their first album in years. A rather unusual lyric bemoaning ... wasted time .. doing a job you'd rather not .. trademark feel will surely mean this is a big hit and I believe absence has made the heart grow fonder. Yep this is the one, the trademark Snow Patrol crescendo ... some spinetingling lyrics ... haunting instrumentation ... pulled from the Number One album 'Eyes Open' this is just the kind of Summer Chiller that may top the singles chart 'I'm Not In Love' style.
Snow Patrol on tour in July - Suffolk, Leeds, Dublin, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Cornwall, Jersey, Brum, Manchester and Newcastle ... hmm no London date yet. XXXXx snowpatrol.net (Posted 20 Jun)

Robots In Disguise -
DJ's Got A Gun future single from
Get Rid new album 3 July
Nice ass and not afraid to flaunt it. Dee Plume and Sue Denim ... these gals have a fantastic stage show, full of energy and very visual. This set of trax includes our favourite 'DJ's Got A Gun' and opens with the single 'Turn It Up', electro minded but very Rock Lobster, an exciting listen.

to support her on her US tour. They've scored a million plays of 'Le Disko' already, number one across the USA. Vocalist Carah Faye's raw in your face take it or leave it message reflects a hard life of a partying up it's arse lifestyle ... a brilliant record! XXXXx

Tahiti 80 -
Big Day
new single 13 March
French foursome Tahiti 80 release a funky little number here, 'Big Day' has a tantalizing drum track and bassline and is a damn catchy song. Remixes are provided by Whomadewho and Booka Shade engineered and mixed by Neale Pogue (of Outkast fame) and Serban Ghenea (NERD). The original mix is available on their 'Fosbury' album which is out now. File with the good stuff - this should do well. XXX
