Gym Class Heroes & Papoose - New Friend Request new remix single to be confirmed Where did these guys come from - this is brilliant! "New friend request - click approve!" it's the first MySpace anthem. This re-mix featuring New York MC Papoose (as heard on Busta Rhymes 'Touch It' and Joe's new tune 'Where You At') is not yet available but it's worth a wager that it will become a smash if or rather when it is eventually released. Killers - When You Were Young new single 18 September When a song is requested even before download availability it's a sure sign of demand. By the end of September the 130bpm 'When You Were Young' should become The Killers first chart-topper with the album 'Sam's Town' following two week's later. Controversially to some and like Incubus they use the word 'Jesus' as a hook, confirming their upward mobility. XXXX thekillersmusic.com (Posted 29 Jul) |

Wolfmother - Woman new single 10 July Wolfmother are the business, recent single 'Dimension' is a barnstorming stand-out track as is this new one 'Mother'. Two superb remixes by MSTRKRFT featuring a hand-clap intro and The Avalanches as you'd expect strangely sounding are both highly enjoyable and a worth anyone's time. Uniquely brilliant! The View - Same Jeans new single 15 January 'Same Jeans' is a superb single, off-beat enuff for Radio One and charming enough for Radio 2 ... in fact I can hear Wogan musing on the tardi-ness of failing to put one's jeans in the wash even now. By February The View should Top Twenty with this single and with their debut album 'Hats Off to the Buskers' out on 22 Jan they should be hot on the trail of their kinsmen The Fratellis. Anti-Flag - The Press Corpse new single 24 Apr Rage Against The Machine Approved ... Anti-Flag are on the warpath or peacepath as Tom Morello of Rage and Audioslave says "Anti-Flag are the most important emerging band in America. Uncompromising, ferocious and absolutely right. In desperate times like these the world needs a band like Anti-Flag to set shit straight." The Rapture - WAYUH new single 27 November New York's The Rapture are one of the hottest indie outfits of the moment, seamlessly blending their indie attitude with some floorfilling basslines. The excellent album 'Pieces Of the People That We Love's second single 'WAYUH' "People don't dance no more, they just stand there like that" reveals such insight and it's ripe for top dance producers to remix, this should be Top Five. Trivium - Dying In Your Arms new single 20 Mar The time has come for Trivium, and 'Dying In Your Arms' is going to be a massive hit for this Florida foursome. Lifted from the album 'Ascendancy' 'Dying In Your Arms' is written by lead singer Mathew K Heafy and almost qualifies for emo, almost - there is a haunting, more mellow quality to the noize. Kerrang! favourites Trivium return to the UK in March for a 16 date tour when this single should be heading for the Top 5! XXXX trivium.org (Posted 13 February) |

Ghostly Man -
Capital new single 10 April The legendary Glyn Thomas, long time member of Manchester's music scene now known also as The Ghostly Man ... you may remember The Alpinestars, that was him with his chum Richard Woolgar. Some describe Glyn as the Serge Gainsbourg of Manchester ... is that possible? Maybe. Anyways, this is a fine tune, big drum sound lush string like synthy accompaniment and a pretty good song to boot, file with the good stuff. XXXx ghostlyman.com (Posted 9 March) |

Keane - Is It Any Wonder new single 29 May Keane are back, stronger and harder ... 'Is It Any Wonder' already featured on Match Of The Day captioning Chelsea's demise in the FA Cup this is their best song yet. A fine trailer for Keane's second album 'Under The Iron Sea' released on 12 June ... for trivia fans Keane's experimental and unique piano-led sound on the new album has been created by channelling the CP70 (Rice-Oxley's electric piano) into a plethora of effects pedals, warping the conventional sound ... and to great effect ... Dragonette - I Get Around new single January 07 Oh here we go instant hard-on ... Just signed to Mercury Records listen out for this Toronto / London based electro band led by husband and wife team Martina Sorbana & Dan Kurtz .. this is sweaty stuff. The promiscuous sex mad 'I Get Around' - "You don't tell on me, I won't tell on you, I get around ... here I come when I better go, I say yes when I oughtta say no, quietly slide away off the mattress, find my clothing on the bedpost, so I tiptoe out of this mess, as I slip back into last night's dress ..." 'Competition' - "Your girlfriend hates the competition, someone's got to tell her what's going on, she's got no idea what you've been doing in positions she never knew existed." Basement Jaxx fans will know Tina from her sensuals on 'Take Me Back To Your House', check the re-mix - if this isn't a massive hit in 2007 I'll eat my wig - shit, it's enormous! Mystery Jets - Diamonds In The Dark new single 14 August Mystery Jets have been leapfrogged by The Arctic Monkeys but they shouldn’t worry. They have a quite special sound and presentation and their quirky songs are uniquely feelgood. Tongue firmly in cheek ‘Diamonds’ originally appeared on their ‘Making Dens’ debut album, now it features a gorgeous atmospheric accoustic guitar intro re-recorded with wonder Producer Stephen Street. Set on the streets of Camden it’s a tale of first love found and lost. Spot the influences .. Johnny Marr, Eno maybe a little Andre 3000. Top Ten we hope. XXXXx mysteryjets.com (Posted 9 Jul) |

New York Dolls - Give Me Love new single 24 July I can't believe how good this record is ... and this is the new incarnation of the legend that is The New York Dolls. Originally spearheading the early 70's sub-culture that led to the punk rock explosion. They played no small part in the 'new wave', their manager Malcolm McLaren going on to herd the Sex Pistols into our homes. Amazingly this will become the Dolls first UK Top 40 hit ... without doubt. The Modern - |
'Industry' single from a justified No.14 placing - 'Discotheque is great we love it! The Modern have just struck a couple of decisive blows in the battle to out Human League Ladytron. Both bands are the biz but The Modern's next two singles should see them climb to the very top. First this re-edit/re-mix of 'Industry' is superb and should now see the chart success it deserved a year ago ... but just wait for 'Discotheque' - it's the gonna be up there in the best of 06, it's already getting the dancefloor moving - here's my tip 'Industry' for Top Twenty, 'Discotheque' for No.1. Dirty Pretty Things - Bang Bang You're Dead new single 24 April Libertines-ex Carl Barrat has been getting his act together quietly unlike his erstwhile Pete. This is a chirpy tune with a message maybe ... 'Bang Bang You're Dead'! Ah it's the way of the world, never mind fifteen minutes of fame, celebrity big bully beckons, pop music has more reps in the house than previously, and a pop hit in the background for every commercial there is ... so many songs which are ... similar. Maybe Carl will finally step out of the shadows with this, it's a good tune. XXXX dirtyprettythingsband.com (Posted 6 Mar) |

U2 & Green Day Saints Are Coming new single:download 30 October: CD 6 Nov Bono may be the U2 member who talks on issues such as debt relief and AIDS funding, but for the past year the Edge has quietly undertaken a mission of his own: getting instruments back into the hands of musicians who lost everything in the wake of the Gulf hurricanes. As New Orleans' Superdome re-opened its doors to football, U2 & Green Day helped celebrate Big Easy's rebirth. Their opening ceremony live show featured this cover of 'The Saints Are Coming', a minor hit in 1979 for one of Scotland's seminal bands The Skids (featuring amateur boxer & TV Presenter Richard Jobson & Stuart 'Big Country' Adamson). For some strange reason yet again this is an excellent slab of pop punk power, with an added ingredient ... spaghetti western type backing vocals. Two of the biggest bands in the world getting together could easily have turned into a grotesque disaster but Billie & Bono's vocals were made for each other and the production is from another world - How do U2 keep coming up with the goods - awe inspiring!
