SUPER FURRY ANIMALS -
LASER BEAM
new single out 8 August
Laser Beam is the taster for the new Furries Album 'Love Kraft' to be released on 22 August. This has the usual Furry approach and then some ... Beastie Boy Producer Mario Caldato enlisted to produce the twelve tracks which feature 'swooning' strings and a 100 strong Catalna choir! Recorded in three Catalonian weeks and mixed in Rio De Janeiro and you know what? "They make an awful lot of coffee in Brazil!" XXXX www.superfurry.com

THE SOHODOLLS - STRIPPER
new single 4 July
Alan 'Oasis Poptones' McGee is a major fan of The Sohodolls 'This song will be every strip joint's anthem' - he's not wrong! Maya, Toni, Ana and Gavin - a menage a trois plus - have already had a major support slot with Wendy James (Transvision Vamp)

new outfit Racine, and this is a tantalising chune. The vid rather whets your appetite in the desired way, and the song - a medium paced stomper is well put together, lots of flashing and heaving - lyrics with a twist, just like their previous and debut single 'Prince Harry'! XXXX www.thesohodolls.com

WEEZER - WE ARE ALL ON DRUGS new single out 15 August
Weezer's Rivers Cuomo does take the time to point out on the sleeve of this new single that "This is not a pro drugs song!" It's a good song, a Top 40 hit song however confusion is rife within the duplicit meaning's of many starry types, is not Ganster Rapper Puf Daddy a Gangster and which John Lennon was true to himself 'Power To The People' or 'You Say You Wanna A Revolution' : and if so where do we go from here? Pass us a spliffy XXXX www.weezer.com

LOUIS XIV - GOD KILLED THE QUEEN new single 18 July
1'59" - "If you wanna take my body tonight - I think I'm seeing double", great stereo effect on the guitar play - a simple hook and less than two mins - inoffensive and chartbound! XXXx www.louisxiv.net

ADAM GREEN - CAROLINA
new single out 18 July
Don't confuse this Carolina with Shaggy's Carolina. Mind you the Shagmeister would I'm sure be proud to have come up with rudeness as grandious as Mr. Green has here. Adam will be Reading & Leeds and this single includes a version of Velvet Underground's 'I'll Be Your Mirror'. Quirky, alternative, moldy and peachy - a Top Twenty hit ... maybe! XXXx www.adamgreen.net

THE CORAL - SOMETHING INSIDE OF ME new single 15 August
A worthy follow-up to In The Morning and this little 2 minute "Ska-Funk" gem should make around the same chart position. The Coral have just announced UK dates in October, they'll play their second of 13 dates announced so far at Cardiff University on Thursday 13 October, unlucky for some! They're also playing Norwich, Exeter, Leeds, Derby, Southampton, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Brirmingham, Brixton and 2 nights in Liverpool. XXXx www.thecoral.co.uk

INNER CITY PIRATES - LOCKED IN THIS GAME
new five track CD out now
Look out for a new five track CD from Inner City Pirates, it's already sold out within days at our favourite record shop Spillers. These Barry boys were until recently known as My Red Cell and previously as Babylose and but for the management changes at their record company they may well have been scaling the upper reaches of the charts. Perseverance is a key quality for success and they return with five great new tracks on this new CD, again with sharp lyrics and storming vocals :-
Locked In This Game - "Give me one more chance at winning"
Bang Bang - "If you got a reason to love then you got a reason to kill too!"
Everyday - "She's a Bastard!"
Calling To Say - "Running through rivers and oceans and seas, I'll be there right away!"
Chew It Up - "You're in the way, You're in my way"

Well worth some of your dosh! XXXX contact Toomey1@hotmail.com

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE -
IN MY HEAD
new single 11 July
Personally I don't think the imagery on the sleeve leads to a happy contented lifestyle - poor being! Interesting always that people make up their own minds en masse what they will sing along with, ie what are their biggest hits ... has this got it "I keep on singing our favourite song" - hmmm maybe it's one of those mellow moment middle of the night missing your lover type songs - good though just not massive - I reckon Top 20 XXXx www.qotsa.com

DOGS - SELFISH WAYS new single 18 July
Dogs do it less selfishly than Cats - 40, 30 and 20 for their last three singles, Selfish Ways should easily get even higher, a beefy, chopsy track. See them fit another Cardiff Barfly gig in on 20th July or at T In The Park, Aberdeen, Newcastle, York, Nottingham, Oxford, Manchester, Northampton, Stoke, Brum, London and Leeds! XXXX www.dogsmusic.com

THE FEATURES - THE WAY IT'S MEANT TO BE new single 18 July
This is a fantastic record, a storming commitment to rock & roll. Great lyrics "Gonna tuck you in tonight, fall asleep right by your side, take a swift kick in the head when you push me out of bed and that's the way it's meant to be!" See them on tour with The Kings Of Leon you'll love them, hailing from Sparta, Tennessee this two minutes is a gem! "wipe your nose and dry your eyes, zip your dress and tie your shoes coz I'll love you til I die, coz I'm yours and you are mine, and that's the way it's meant to be!"! XXXXX www.thefeatures.com

STEREOPHONICS - SUPERMAN
new single 20 June
Yet another variant of the new Stereophonics single and this one is great too! Featuring their cover of the ever popular Iggy & The Stooges 'I Wanna Be Your Dog'. As I write the MCH Remix Superman is my favourite track of the moment and it highlights how good a song this really is .. a blistering lyric about unrequited sex ... this really does deserve to be Kelly & Co.s second number one single .. maybe he'll send me those bloody lyrics to A Thousand Trees then - I'm not holding my breath! XXXXx www.stereophonics.com

MEW - APOCALYPSO
new single 18 July
Well here's a surprise - and it's from Denmark. What a brilliant title Apocalypso ... and as soon as the first notes chime out it sounds special, kinda sad, kinda daunting, a haunting melody and light harmonic vocals with a great rhythm track featuring frenzied though controlled riffing - loads of space too. 'The first Danes of Rock' says The Times, see for yourself - they're in the UK at the end of July - London ICA, Manchester Academy, Notts Rescue Rooms & Glasgow. Definately not nil points! XXXX www.mewsite.com

THE CHALETS - FEEL THE MACHINE new single 27 June

The Chalets debut single from their debut album is pretty powerful stuff as the title suggests. You can see The Chalets supporting The Cribs on tour this month and this single with a little luck could be featured on TOTP too! Not bad XXXX www.thechalets.com

GARBAGE - SEX IS NOT THE ENEMY new single - remixes out 20 Jun
The Ills remix is excellent mixing awesomely with Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up, not too much of the song left but what do you expect from an atmospheric remix! XXXX www.garbage.com

FOO FIGHTERS -
IN YOUR HONOUR
new album out 13 Jun
This is The Foo Fighters White Album, an accoustic CD and the obligatory Rocker. In the battle for classic status it's got a headstart, with the impassioned 'The Best Of You', you can't go wrong with this - brilliant! XXXXX www.foofighters.com

THE ORDINARY BOYS - BRASSBOUND new album 20 June
The Ordinary Boys are my favourite band of the past two years, their lyrics are great, the production is superb, the songs are catchy pop tunes with biting invective. 'Life Will Be The Death Of Me' is to be the next single although if it's coupled with 'Rudi's In Love' it could be a Summer Number 1 - I hope this album does the same on the album chart, a worthy followup to last year's Over The Counter Culture XXXXX www.theordinaryboys.com

SOULWAX - NY EXCUSE new single 27 June

There are so many facts and figures packed into the excellent new vid for Soundwax NY Excuse, reminiscent lyrically to Disposeable Heroes Television. It's an hypnotic viewing and works great as a record too! I speculate the idea for the vid came first, it should be a Top Ten Hit XXXx www.soulwax.com

FEVER - LADYFINGERS new single 18 July
These guys are on the up with a powerful rocker - Ladyfingers, you can see them headline at Cardiff Barfly oin Tuesday 19th July! XXXx www.thefeveronline.com

JAKI GRAHAM - SUPERSTITION
new single 11 July
Oh dear - of all the songs to relaunch your career with, who on earth would suggest this one. Stevie's original is more popular than ever, and Jaki's fades to insignificance within moments. Jaki had some superb hits in the 80's with the awesome Set Me Free and Round & Around, even her cover of Could It Be I'm Falling In Love with David Grant was an admirable 80's update but this? Why bother, if you like the song get Stevie's original - buy his album for a couple of quid more. Good thing it's not Eurovision - NilsPoints! x www.jasonwest.com
