IAN BROWN - ALL ABLAZE
new single 5 September
'All Ablaze' is a brand new track recorded to tease the release of Ian's 'The Greatest' 17 track hit compilation out on 12 September. This is a cracking single acid basslines, eastern guitar and funky drums and a tune speculating that organised religion and their hierarchies have attempted to steal rock and roll and sell it back to the people - let me just ask Sir Cliff about that one! All Ablaze is a great three track single featuring the trailblazing 'Kiss Ya Lips (No ID) and the album version of the classic show ender 'Fear'. XXXXx www.ianbrown.co.uk (Posted 28 July)

THE BLOODHOUND GANG -
FOXTROT UNIFORM CHARLIE KILO
new single 5 September
Chasey Lane regularly does the biznezz on the dancefloor and F.U.C.K. is pointed in that direction tooo! This will be the second F.U.C.K. on the charts in quick succession of Babyshambles F.U.C.K. Forever. These guys regularly come up with a surprise which is quite difficult to do with the conglomeration of stuff on offer and it's a quality groove & production ... Top 20. XXXx

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE -
THE GHOST OF YOU
new single out 22 August
Well, this is a little lurrv song .. medium paced, a rather dramatic hook "never coming home, never coming home", and to be fair it's rather good. More accessible than I'm Not Okay etc, lovely guitar intro, Top Ten ... hope so. See them on tour in November - Wolves, Pompey, London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and Newport, South Wales. THE SUBWAYS - WITH YOU
new single 5 September
'With You' is The Subways fine follow-up to 'Rock & Roll Queen' from their album 'Young For Eternity'. A love song with an "explosive" chorus which you will have heard at Glastonbury and at The Subways support gigs with Oasis, Weezer and Embrace. See them at Reading and Leeds in August and on TV when this hits the charts in September. XXXx

THE ORDINARY BOYS -
LIFE WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME
new single 29 August
This track seems to sum up what's going on at the moment quite adequately. Not my favourite choice for second single, that was Rudi's In Love but I'm inteested to see how the Boys fayre with planting some of their favourite songs and covering them for this inclusion on this single. In contension are The Ruts 'Babylon's Burning', Stevie Wonder's 'A Place In The Sun' and The Kinks 'Set Me Free'. XXXx www.theordinaryboys.com (Posted 27 July)

LADY SOVEREIGN -
9 TO 5 (ORDINARY BOYS MIX)
new single 8 August
Lady Sovereign and The Ordinary Boys seem made for eachother. This, the second of two brilliant collaborations is given The Ordinary Boys favoured Ska treatment, Lady Sov's rhymes sang with some gusto Terry Hall would be proud of. Lady Sov added a fantastic edge to The OB's Boys Will Be Boys and the favour has been returned here. These are X-Factor lyrics - "Huge" rhymed with "Kate Price's boobs", "Tweenies with CBeebies" - it's brilliant! XXXXx www.ladysovereign.com (Posted 29 July)

THE RAKES - CAPTURE/RELEASE
new album 15 August
Capture/Release includes the much requested 'Strasbourg', the great punky 'Retreat', and the hearty new ode 'Work Work Work', each is a fine track but sometimes there is a stand-out track that will make you buy an album and it's got no chance as a single. '22 Grand Job' is superb, 1min 50secs "22 Grand Job in the City, that's OK", witty lyrics Squeeze would be proud of, a comedic desperation to all their songs and well worth a purchase - even though his mates "on 28k"!. THE DOGS -
TURN AGAINST THIS LAND
new album out 1 August
This unfortunately titled debut album from The Dogs is a storming rocker. The opening track London Bridge sets the tone with an atmospheric intro before the drums and bass come pounding in ... and they're off. The brilliant singles Selfish Ways, Tuned To A Different Station and She's Got A Reason are surrounded by an array of worthy single candidates ...End Of An Era, Donkey, Tarred & Feathered, Heading For An Early Grave, It's Not Right - these are great songs. Luc, Dunc, Johnny, Rikki and Rich - Hounds nay, Dogs of Lurve. XXXXx www.dogsmusic.com (Posted 22 July)

LADYTRON - DESTROY
new single out 29 August
THE WITCHING HOUR
new album date tbc
Ladytron are making some really great sounds, there's a distant female tone some blokes will recognise immediately! International Dateline, Destroy, All The Way and the brilliant single Sugar are an exciting taster for this album which has yet to be given a release date. In the meantime Destroy looks set to go Top 20 when it's released as a single for September. XXXX

BIG JOHN - WRONG NUMBER
new limited pressing demo single available now
Matthew King Pimple and chums have been Big John since Sept 04 and this limited edition demo was recorded back in January. It features three catchy tunes one of which, 'Wrong Number' has been picked up by BBC 6 Music man Phil Jupitus. Adam Walton has given the Radio Wales seal of approval and I'm happy to add my vote. This is good catchy material and with a bit of luck and production could attract a deal soon. The guys do an interesting rocky cover of Depeche Mode's 'Just Can't Get Enough' which is worth recording at some point. XXXx www.bigjohnband.com

MYSTERY JETS -
YOU CAN'T FOOL ME DENNIS

new single 12 September
This is a bit of a grower, with a bit of airplay The Mystery Jets off the wall charm might work their magic on the Top 40. A strange title and an unusual subject along with Zoo Time and On My Feet whetting tastebuds for their debut album scheduled for release in early 06. Check out their website to download their version of Bloc Party's 'Pie On Ears' ... I'm sorry that should be 'Pioneers'. Not bad XXXx www.mysteryjets.com (Posted 31 July)

CHUCK BERRY - MAYBELLENE / WEE WEE HOURS
BO DIDDLEY - BO DIDDLEY / I'M A MAN
50th Anniversary Collectors Edition Singles out 8 August
From 2120 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago - the home of the Blues. The legendary Chess Brothers launched their record label and helped bring popular culture out of it's post World War Two slumber and into a new vibrant exciting and challenging age. The Chess Record Label was in it's heyday way back when? Well 1954 to be precise, that's when Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry came to town just around the same time as The Pelvis became the acceptable face (if not Pelvis) of the Rock & Roll revolution. These are classic recordings collectors (ie those who bought Elvis Number One's) will love. It's interesting to read these guys biogs and get in a time machine - Chuck born 1926, Bo 1928 - try imagining how it may have felt to have recorded or even to hear these recording's for the first time, one veteren star of the mid-fifties Ole Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra was not amused ... Classic! XXXx When UMTV update their website the details will appear at www.umtv.co.uk

KAISER CHIEFS -
I PREDICT A RIOT
re-released single 22 August
A floor filler for a year now, I Predict A Riot is being re-released and should see The Kaisers with their first Top 5 hit - it's a brilliant lyric about the threat of needless drunken violence, a great hook and a pounding production. To increase it's chances of greater success the single will come complete with a brand new track 'Sink That Ship'. XXXXx www.kaiserchiefs.co.uk (Posted 22 July)

EL PRESIDENTE - WITHOUT YOU
new single out 25 July
I love this, Glaswegian El Presidente have come up with another awesome 'glam-styled' pop single. This really is the business, a cathchy lyric, chorus, hook and a great pop production. Top Ten I hope. XXXXx www.el-presidente.co.uk

THE BRAVERY - UNCONDITIONAL
new single 29 August
The Bravery are right up there and this is the third single to be released from their self titled debut album. Unconditional 'I just want, I just want love' a heartening plea for "Something, something for nothing" - it's pretty dramatic electro rock 05 style. Deserves a Top Ten XXXx

PURE REASON REVOLUTION - CAUTIONARY TALES FOR THE BRAVE mini album out 12 September (Posted 22 July)
A very different approach, four suites rather than tracks - . Interesting stuff quite a depature from the norm. Very much more a listening record, In Aurelia kicks off this set almost Kasabian sounding, then The Bright Ambassadors is almost Enigma The Sadness for 11mins 50secs! 8 mins of Arrival and 5 mins of Magic. If Pure Reason Revolution manage to carve out an audience and stage show half as good as Pink Floyd's they will be a major attraction. Persevere with this ambitious music - it can become surprisingly addictive. XXx www.purereasonrevolution.com

ALL AMERICAN REJECTS -
MOVE ALONG
new album out 11 July
DIRTY LITTLE SECRET
new single 12 Sept
This is kinda standard American Pop Rock or Rock Pop, Bowling For Soup, Simple Plan stylee. Not quite up to the Blink 182 standards of I Miss You, however there is one excellent track on this sampler - Stab My Back has a surprising intro, semi accoustic, awkward drums, and this seems to make the song stand out quite a bit. The single to be, Dirty Litle Secret is a nice idea but could be anyone really, Move Along a little disappointing. Not bad though, XXXx www.allamericanrejects.com

IDIOT PILOT - TO BUY A GUN EP
new single 1 August
Idiot Pilot, two eighteen year old's from Washington near Sunderland whose influences include Aphex Twin, Talking Heads, Radiohead and Sigur Ros. Their debut album 'Strange We Should Meet Here' includes the 'To Buy A Gun' track which is featured here. There's also the 'Her Space Holiday Re-mix', tracks 3 and 4 are 'Moerae (The Locust)' and it's quite useful Jel Remix, almost Fool's Gold Stone Rose-ish. Not immediately great but not bad for a start. XXx www.idiotpilot.com (Posted 27 July)

JOY ZIPPER - '1' new single out 1 August
Joy Zipper - Vinny Cafiso and Tabitha Tindale ... great names ... this is sweet accoustic based rock and could receive airplay from all the major network Radio One & Two, Local Commercial Radio, a jolly pleasant little tune XXX

McFLY - I'LL BE OK new single out 15 August
This is garbage isn't it? A source of income for blah blah management now Busted have departed, and the ugly one at the back is looking quite pretty now. As a song I'll Be OK is OK, no it's not it sucks. At least they haven't released their putrid version of The Beatles She Loves You. Woops "I just wet my pants" - not me, my ex-boss - he'll love it, bless him! x www.mcflyofficial.com (Posted 22 July)
