There are some great new records due for release shortly, check out Hot Hot Heat and use our review page as a shortcut to their official website ..... same applies to Audioslave, El Presidente, The Futureheads, The Kills, The Dears, The Editors, The Kaiser Chiefs, Nerina Pallot, Simple Plan, The Brakes, Oneida and My Chemical Romance and well check the list ...
HOT HOT HEAT - GOODNIGHT new single 23 May
Awesome - 2 mins of divine short sharp power pop .. call it what you will. I still get plenty of requests for Bandages, and this is even more brilliant, catchy hook, great instrumentation and you will never be bored with it - Top 5 XXXXx www.hothotheat.com
AUDIOSLAVE - OUT OF EXILE new album out on 23 May BE YOURSELF single out 30 May Chris 'Soundgarden' Cornell, Tim, Tom & Brad 'Rage Against The Machine' hook up again with the followup to Cochise, their storming floorfiller from 02. Rather more mellow, reflective lyrics this is almost down Bon Jovi's street. They may hate me for saying it but there it is, and it's no bad thing. Already No.1 on the what?, US Modern Rock, US Active Rock and US Mainstream Rock Charts??? Daft as that may sound America's charts give a far more stable and representative gauge of popularity than our dear old Hit Forty UK. This will be a massive selling group and album again. EL PRESIDENTE - 100 MPH new single 2 May
This is the return of Glam Rock, sauntering slinkily like a sexy Bolan Boogie at a leisurely 100 mph, these Glaswegian's will be supporting Kasabian on tour and by the second week of May this single should be Top Ten, I hope. Fun is in Funky once more ... XXXXx www.el-presidente.co.uk
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - HELENA new single 16 May
My Chemical Romance made No.19 with their last single 'I'm Not Okay' a storming slab of Indie Rock, and this should have no trouble equalling that position. Another raunchy Blink 182 style rocker already receiving heavy MTV airplay and maybe this time a Top Tenner, XXXx www.mychemicalromance.com
SIMPLE PLAN - WELCOME TO MY LIFE new single 13 June
Plenty of time to get used to these guys before release in June. In May Simple Plan play KIIS FM's Wango Tango festival in Los Angeles, they've shared the stage with Avril Lavigne and Aerosmith. This again is very Blink 182, All The you know what, and I can't quite put my head around what's missing ... is this tooo music by numbers or are the lyrics just not registering with me? Maybe that will change with front man Pierre Bouvier's exposure on MTV's 'Damage Control' and support slot's for the Green Day tour. Maybe, but for now XX www.simpleplan.com
THE KILLS - LOVE IS A DESERTER new single 16 May
'The Good Ones' cracked No.23 for The Kills back in January now we find Jamie & Alison at "the low end of Georgio Moroder" for 'Love Is A Deserter'. It can seem an accurate title and this should be another hit, Top Twenty this time, a fine record XXXXx www.thekills.tv
THE DEARS - THE DEATH OF ALL THE ROMANCE new single 2 May
The Dears played Cardiff Barfly recently and made a load of new friends with their eccentricly theatrical songs. Think Divine Comedy and you're nearly there. "22:The Death Of All Romance" is the third single from their excellent No Cities Left album and well worth a listen. XXXX www.thedears.org
EDITORS - MUNICH new single 18 April
Follow-up to Bullets, The Editors are alredy creating a stir for themselves with single number two, "Munich". As singer Tom Smitgh ponders
"It breaks when you force it / it breaks if you don't try" perhaps recommending compromise between two extremes. Well worth a visit on the Fab Forty. XXXX www.editorsofficial.com
KAISER CHIEFS - EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU LESS & LESS new single 16 May
Kaiser Chiefs are King, playlisted by Radio 2, the world is at their feet ... I Predict A Riot .. fills the dancefloor as does Oh My God , what about this clever little platter? Well Everyday is a little more medium paced but Stephen Street's brilliant production enables the Kaisers playful lyrics to shine through unhindered, Top Ten again! XXXx www.kaiserchiefs.co.uk
NERINA PALLOT - EVERYBODY'S GONE TO WAR new release available now
"I've got a friend who's a pure bred killing machine, He says he's waitedc his whole damn life for this ... And so, everybody's going to war, but we don't know what we're fighting for ...." a storming rhythm track to accompany these pointed lyrics, playlisted again by The Market Leader ... BBC Radio 2, hear her on Johnnie Walker's Drivetime on Tuesday 26th April and see her at Cardiff Barfly on Thursday 21st April.-This quite properly should be Top Ten, a brilliant song, lyric and a catchy melody XXXXx www.nerinapallot.com
FUTUREHEADS - DECENT DAYS re-released single 9 May
Number One? Yeah, why not - Hounds Of Love - awesome, Decent Days was a hit last year and on this reissue should do far better than 28, they deserve the big numbers! XXXXx www.thefutureheads.com
BRAKES - ALL NIGHT DISCO PARTY new single 30 May
Brakes have come up with a very useful chune here, the lyrics demand your attendance at "the all night disco party" and well, you can position this in the middlke of a discovatin' set or some Madchester or some more bling-ing 'Don't stop, don't stop, don't stop, I'll tell you when!" XXXx
ONEIDA - THE WEDDING new album out on 2 May
If you like unusual, unpredictable, eclectic - you'll love this. Perplexing is this project which started in 2001, four tracks on this sampler from the East Coast US artist Oneida titled The Wedding - Track 1, High Life is almost Depeche Mode Just Can't Get Enough, Track 2, Did I Die veeres towards AC/DC with a brilliantly mysterious repetative instrumental finale - Track 3, August a ballad followed by Lavender, a church organ heralding Service, no a chunky little chune??? Is this too clever, some said Bohemian Rhapsody was, it's certainly thought provoking XXX
