Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Gold Lion new single 20 March Yeah's leader Karen O explains "Show Your Bones is what happens when you put your finger in the light socket - maybe there is some of that electric current flowing through the tracks of our album illuminating us from the inside' ... Show Your Bones' is also the title of their follow-up album to 2003's Gold Album 'Fever To Tell' and includes 'Gold Lion' an excellent appetizer for the album which will follow a week later on the 27 March. Top Ten. XXXX www.yeahyeahyeahs.com (Posted 13 February) |

The Crimea - White Russian Galaxy new single 20 March The Crimea finally cracked the Top Thirty with 'Lottery Winners On Acid' not before time toooooo ... if only Davey and Co. in their former guise The Crocketts had struck it so lucky. Both the late John Peel and Zane Lowe made Lottery Winners top of their piles, and 'White Russian Galaxy' now in an edited version for radio play is a worthy follow-up which should hopefully breeze into the Top Twenty. Davey McManus is a Morrissey like character with an undeniable stage presence and a krafted way with lyrics, (check our fave Crocketts tune '1939 Returning'). Success long overdue. Franz Ferdinand - The Fallen new single 27 March Franz Ferdinand release 'The Fallen' as their third single from the second album 'You Could Have It So Much Better'. 'The Fallen' is the album opener celebrating 'the idea of looking for your heroes and finding them sitting next to you in everyday life'. Their album has sold 500,000 in the UK and 2million worldwide, I'm not sure that this is the strongest of singles and other than that the only thing going against them at the moment will be the possibility of 'burn' in a Darkness like way, Top Twenty at least. Matt Costa - Cold December from 'Songs We Sing' album 27 February I put this on quite prepared to enjoy the joke but hey ... 'Cold December' is great. 19 year old Matt Costa was well on his way to a pro skateboard career when tragedy struck and he shattered his leg in an accident. Here we are four years later and Matt has turned his attentions to songwriting, landing the assistance of No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont who has produced this twelve track debut album. See Matt supporting Jack Johnson on his UK tour dates in late Feb and March. Judging by 'Cold December' there's an edginess and unpredictability here that's quite exciting, good stuff! ALO featuring Jack Johnson - Girl I Wanna Lay You Down new single 27 March Well as the title suggests this is a sexy little number 'I come over early in the morning I'm like a heatwave without warning, and when I touch you my heart begins to flutter, you're smooth and creamy like peanut butter' ... wait there's more 'Gonna find you like a love river, and baby the Postman is about to deliver' ... hmmmm sexy and irresistably slinky - quite brilliant! Hang on there's more more 'So turn out the lights, bring out the candles, wrap your arms around my love handles'. See these guys on UK tour duty starting Feb 24 at Manchester Arena, then Notts, Plymouth, Brum, Cardiff and Hammersmith Apollo. XXXX www.alomusic.com (Posted 13 February) |

The Modern - Industry new single 6 March The Modern have just struck a couple of decisive blows in the battle to out Human League Ladytron. Both bands are th biz but The Modern's next two singles should see them climb to the very top. First this re-edit/re-mix of 'Industry' is superb and should now see the chart success it deserved a year ago ... but just wait for 'Discotheque' - it's the gonna be up there in the best of 06, it's already getting the dancefloor moving - here's my tip 'Industry' for Top Twenty, 'Discotheque' for No.1. Two enormous slabs of pop brilliance, see The Modern at Cardiff Barfly on Sunday 19th Feb and check their website at the link below for full tour schedule. Orson - No Tomorrow Sampler new single 27 March Orson lead singer Jason Pebworth describes Orson's music as 'two guitar power pop', and it's found a home already. New single 'No Tomorrow' is already frequently requested and may land a Top 40 chart placing. This four track sampler is further eveidence of great things to come, strong melodies, incisive lyrics & strong production are the hallmark of this band. The name 'Orson' inspired by Hollywood legend Orson Welles 'a maverick', you can judgefor yourself with Orson on a short UK tour beginning on Tuesday 14 Feb at London 100 Club, then Pompey, Brighton, Brum, Manchester, Bris'l, Sheffield, Notts and Oxford.
