Support from Black#5 and The October Country

Jay Aston & Co. won over the USA in 1985 with their Top Ten hit Desire. A storming song released here on the Alternative Beggers Banquet label but receiving barely a play on UK radio. All the more disappointing was it because the band originate from Bridgend - 10 miles from Red Dragon FM. In those days the station was run by Preston based Red Rose who had little time to understand it's opportunities to help create a vibrant Welsh Music Industry. Neither does that excuse the rest of the then UK radio industry for ignoring a great rock record from some raw Welsh Talent in the pre 'Cool Cymru' days!
Welcome back Gene Loves Jezebel, long may you rock!

William Elliott Whitmore, Christopher Rees
Christopher Rees is a fantastically talented singer songwriter and we were greatly pleased to see him recognised as Best Male Solo Artist at the Welsh Music Awards 2005. Back in 1998 I was so impressed with Christopher (as he prefers to be known) I invited him into Swansea's 96.4FM The Wave to perform a couple of his self penned love songs on The Love Wave which was normally exclusively big love song hits. Christopher received rave reviews from our listeners even then. Although I believe it should be much easier to hear new talent in it's own locality, it's heartening that more and more radio stations are looking for ways of including rather than excluding it.
